Hi guys,
I have a 30% Glycolic peel here, and I haven't used it yet because I'm still working out a new regime. But, how soon after the 30% peel is it safe to use your daily regime - in my case, it'd be cleanser, glycolic toner and moisturizer in morning, and cleanser, salicylic 5% and Vit c at night. My plan is to work through 30, 50% slowly, then move onto combinations, maybe TCA at a later date, but I'm finding it hard to discover info on when you can resume a regular routine after peels? I understand it's a little more obvious with the likes of TCA where there is physical peeling, but with 30% Glycolic there is no peeling, so I'm just not sure when to resume my usual routine.
I do have a post-peel moisturizer I bought, so I was thinking of just using that and cleanser for 24 hours after the 30% but would love to hear some opinions. |

My peel had instructions to not use any makeup and to avoid sweating for 24 hours afterwards. It also said to just use a basic moisturizer until the skin returns to normal or about 5 days.
Here is my experience with it -
The first time I did the peel and I kept it on for the minimal amount of time which was 2 minutes. My skin felt quite sensitive after this and it probably took a week to feel normal again. I waited two weeks before doing another peel and I had the same experience. By the third and fourth peels I was able to keep the peel solution for the maximum amount of time and resume my normal routine straight away which includes salicylic acid and retinol. I was able to use the clarisonic brush the next morning. My guess is that my skin has gotten stronger and thicker with the peels and the rest of my routine.
So for you - I guess you would start slowly and carefully and work from there. Give your skin rest from any actives for at least a day and see how it feels. Add the rest of your products slowly and back off if you see any irritation. Don't forget to use sunscreen. |

Hi, thanks for the reply, really helpful! Another question for you - do you use pads to apply, or a brush, or what? I used pads, but I felt like the pad was soaking up too much, and dragging a little - did 5% saliclyic and then 30% Glycolic for 2 minutes, I thought it'd be more eventful but it felt super mild, no burning, or irritation, only a mild tingling...I do think I've fairly tough skin though. Still, I'll stick with the plan, and do a course of 6 30%s before moving up.
Thanks again for the advice |

I use a fan brush to apply. The pads do soak up quite a bit more of the product and I don't like the dragging. |
