I really, really wanted to buy AALS to even out my skin tone after all the great reviews I saw for it here and saw it helped people with dark circles like I have. I have been avidly researching machines, saving up money. I wanted AALS as I have read that the AALS seems to work for even people like me with sensitive skin.
I was thinking of dermarolling but because of my sensitive skin, I worry I would just injure myself and cause harm to my face as I know it does not like to be touched too much.
I have been on tetracycline for a couple of months now due to perioral dermatitis (I tried every natural route and this was the only thing that worked to clear it up).
I just saw on the lightstim website that quote 'you should consult your physician before using lightstim if taking tetracyclines'. I assume this means it is not recommended if you are taking cyclines to use AALS.
On the other hand on a DPL website I read:
There are no harmful UV rays from using the DPL. For some antibotics, such as Tetracycline, you have to use caution to sun light exposure, but the LED lights do not give off any harmful UV's like the sun - so you can take them when using the light as it is different from sunlight.
I don't have time nor money to go to my derm and pay for him to give me an answer on this Q so I wanted to ask:
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Has anyone taking tetracyclines or other meds tried lightstim?
Does anyone have any other machine recommendations for a device that would really work to plump, tone, increase collagen and get rid of age spots, under eye bags that would not be problematic with the use of cyclines and also be suitable for someone with sensitive skin?
It seems like many devices are just too aggressive for those with mediumly sensitive skin.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Hi Virginia
I have been on tetracycline for nearly two months for perioral dermatitis - I've never ever had problems with my skin before, no dermatitis previously, believe mine is hormone induced - and have been happily using my LightStim during the whole of that time every other day. No side effects whatsoever.
I was not aware of any precautionary advice onthe LightStim website - I simply have never checked - but I told my GP who prescribed the antibiotic to me that i was using an led light to help my healing. She never told me to stop, and actually told me to report back how I got on with it.
I'm no derm, so not qualified to give any medical advice, but I hope my reply helps you feel reassured in some way.
Tracey

Dear Tracey,
Thank you so much!
Yes your answer is so reassuring. I don't feel worried now. I did think it was odd that is was not recommended since infrared is very different from UV within sunlight, which I thought was what was problematic with cyclines.
I really appreciate hearing from someone in the same boat as me. I think I'll order my lightstim very soon. I like that is seems to give good results without being invasive like dermaroller or laser.
I don't know about you but I am not a big fan of being on antibiotics as I know it's not the best for the gut, but it has been a lifesaver for this condition. I hope that for both of us the POD clears up soon on its own accord.
