I have been using an ACV vinegar toner for about 1-2 weeks and I have noticed a change in the smell of the toner. I mixed water and ACV in a cheap plastic travel bottle from Target and I do not refrigerate, I just keep it on my desk. Does anyone know why the smell would change? |

Hi MizMeg - I use a 50/50 apple cider vinegar (Braggs) and water (distilled) toner, too. However, I store mine in a glass bottle and I put a few drops of essential oil (usually lavender) in to mask the smell of the ACV. I don't refrigerate either. Perhaps it's the plastic from the bottle that's creating an aroma. Try using a glass bottle. Of course, maybe mine has gone off and I don't know it because of the lavender smell . . . oh well, it still works so I'll keep using it! Hope that helps. Cheers, Bess |

How many drops of lavender oil do you put in? And where did you get the glass bottle? |

Hi again MizMeg - I save all of my empty glass bottles (either in amber or cobalt blue) from essential oils, vanilla extract, etc. I also buy new ones (various sizes, plus pumps, sprays, roll-ons, etc.) from the health food store. They are available online - probably better prices than the health food store. My current toner bottle is 50 mL (it used to hold tea tree oil) - so 25 mL ACV, 25 mL distilled water and about 5 to 7 drops of lavender. I only use essential oils to mask the ACV smell which reminds me of cat wee . . . Sandalwood essential oil is lovely to use and great for the skin but I'm out and it's quite expensive so I'm making do with the lavender. Hope that helps! Cheers, Bess |
