I am new to the forum and I have questions on how to improve elasticity. I have very few wrinklers (if any) but I do have a problem with elasticity and bags under my eyes. I have recently started using the Strevectin Skin Tightner in the a.m. and their retinol cream at night. Questions is - can i still use a vitamin c serum before applying the skin tightner? or should i use it at night before the retinol? and what vitamin c do you guys recommend. i have cellex-c in the past. any suggestions? |

Hi mayelewo, I am not sure how much topicals will help with elasticity. Retin A and Vit C seem to be some of the better products, with some clinical research behind them.
I have used a bunch of different Vit C products over the years and Mad hippie is my favorite. SkinCeuticals was good also but very pricey. If you are into DIY you can make your own Vit C product cheaply and you know it will be fresh. There are lots of recipes on EDS if this is of interest. |

Thanks all for the replies and links. Any comments on Strivectin? Does anyone here use it - or think its worth the price? |

Vitamin C is good for skin strengthening and improving collagen and elastin, but so many serums don't penetrate deeply enough to do any good.
The Vitamin needs to get right down to the dermis where collagen and elastin is, otherwise it will just make the surface of your skin nice and not do much for improving texture of firmness!
I've used a lot of ultrasound therapy in day spas (qualified beauty therapist) and this really works to improve overall tone. Galvanic current can penetrate deep enough to deliver ingredients to the lower tissue.
Use this with Retinol and you'll get good results.
It also has a massaging effect on skin which helps appearance and circulation, plus it exfoliates by stimulating the cells!
You need at least 6 treatments normally over the course of a few weeks, and like anything the more you do it the better the results. And it can be expensive.
It's actually been around for years but doesn't get the exposure it deserves due to all the other 'latest' treatments always coming out.
You can get some good at-home devices these days, which you can use often and whenever you want. Look up the Fyola Lite for a good one. |
