Hello everyone! I've been lurking this forum for a long time as there is a wealth of information here, but I haven't found anything that quite answers my question. Hope someone can help!
So I've slept mostly on my left side for many years, and I've developed a sleep wrinkle (vertical from nostril between my cheek and nose), but it's... weird. It's not a line like I would expect a wrinkle to be (I'm 26 and don't have any others other than fine lines). It's actually like a ditch that is really obvious when I'm in the bathroom with overhead lighting, appears quite wide, and I can actually feel a ditch when I run my finger over it! I've been trying to sleep on my back for several weeks with no change, but I may be rolling over to my side *shrug*.
Is this a wrinkle? Could is possibly improve? My skin is also significantly dehydrated (breastfeeding) and I have open pores and crinkly skin on my cheeks and forehead as well because of it.
Thanks for reading |

Yes, this is so unfortunate! It also happened to me, also from sleeping on one side. But I am much older than you...still that ridge is deeper than any wrinkle. Being so young it could help if you manage to change your sleeping positions. I know it's not easy.
How it happens. While sleeping, face muscles (especially around the mouth) may be in unfortunate positions. It could be bad enough that some connective tissue under the skin just slips away. The result is a deep ridge...and skin simply lose support so it sinks in an awful wrinkle. It first happened to me around 35 years old. But my skin was still in very good condition and it covered the subcutaneous ridge. As years passed, so the skin lost its elasticity, al least a bit...I am not happy about that.
Botox looks weird in that area. May be some fillers could work. Other than that there is no cure.
I stay away from any cosmetic surgery or even botox.
I only rely on creams and try to sleep on may back. It doesn't work very well, unless I use a narrow couch. But that not a long term solution, LOL. |

Hi,
I sometimes wake up with a wrinkle like that but it usually disappears quite quickly during the day... I am a side sleeper, but I sleep on both sides which is probably why it is disappears... I also sleep on satin pillow (silk and satin don't take moisture out of skin).
I would try moisturisers first and there is also a pillow that could help, http://www.savemyface.com/. I didn't try it, it just makes sense that it could work...
The other thing I can recommend is face massage, for example Tanaka every morning when you wake up, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4ANcs7oh9s. You can do it in 3 minutes and does help drain lymph which I think contributes to this wrinkle...
Also, keep in mind that depending on how deep the fold/wrinkle is, it might take some time for it to disappear...
Massage, moisturiser and pillow case are not really big investments so I think you can try with that, and considering your age, it is quite likely to disappear...
Good luck |

when I get sleep wrinkles that are in my regular "expression lines" then they take all day long to disappear and I'm only 35. Maybe my skin is just terrible, but it's like since they are so ingrained in my skin to begin with , they hang on. |

Oh no! I sleep on the side too and it always worries me... I wish I could fall asleep on my back but I simply can't.
Any ideas on how to get yourself to sleep on your back? It could have like the opposite effect, no? Like a mini face lift during the night? |

As we get older, loose, crumbly skin and wrinkles in the neck and chest areas eventually develop. Sleeping on your side it doesn’t just contribute to facial wrinkles, but also causes lines to develop in the neck and chest areas. This sleeping position causes the skin in the area to compress which promotes the development of wrinkles. You can treat it by using Best Moisturizers. It can make the skin smoother and more youthful in appearance when used regularly. I will suggest to use Dermaxsol, It Great for all skin types otherwise you will go with Revivatone which is specially design to remove neck and chest wrinkles. |
