Hello
I have this skin care routine:
AM:
Obagi Clenziderm Foaming Cleanser(saliciylic acid)
Obagi Clenziderm Pore Therapy(saliciylic acid toner)
Obagi Exfoderm Forte(BHA cream)
and after that I use a moisturizer and a sunscreen.
PM:
Obagi Foaming Gel
Obagi Toner
Tretinoin 0.1%
My acne has been reduced and I can see improvments.
Because of my acne, I have many red marks.
I've read that zinc cream on those red marks can reduce those red marks but I don't know when to use it in my skin scare regime.
Can someone give me some advice when and how to use zinc cream and if it's worth using it?
Are there any other ways to reduce red pimple marks? |

Let me preface by saying that I'm no expert, and know nothing about Obagi.
I found that zinc cream heals my irritated, inflamed skin & lips better than anything else but I don't know that it fades scars, if that's what you mean.
It would seem to me that with all the acids you're using, if they're not in fact irritating, they're probably all you would need to promote skin regeneration.
I used hydroquinone for 2-3 months at a time for my acne scars, but I have olive/dark skin, so they were hyperpigmentation. I don't know if that's the same thing as your redness. I find that being patient, and soothing my skin (no acids) works best for any redness I get from recent irritation.
Zinc ointment isn't a very elegant cream, so you'd only want to dot it on before bed at night, not walk around with white, greasy stuff on your face. I'm not sure if someone warned against using zinc right after tretinoin or not... you'll have to research that just in case.
Zinc ointment is definitely worth trying of course, being so inexpensive, from the baby aisle in the drugstore.
By the way, that seems like a very extreme skincare routine to me... .1 tretinoin is the highest strength... you might get by using a lower percentage. All that just might be contributing to the redness. |
_________________ Olive, normal/oily skin. Using rinse-off ocm, Vit C, Tretinoin since Nov/10, GHK since Feb/12, Niacinamide & glucosamine, alternating, & now skipping nights! Concerns include oiliness, hyperpigmentation from occasional zits, 11's & nasolabial folds. |

Thanks for your reply.
I don't have scars, it's just those little red marks where pimples used to be. |
