Hi, I've overused of acne medication in the past (Benzoyl peroxide for 2 years) and now I'm left with mild/severe redness concentrate where I applied it. The skin is red/inflammed and sometimes peeling, my esthetician qualified it as ''dehydrated''.
I stopped using harsh chemical on my skin and I am now on Accutane (low dose of 20mg/day as a 180lbs male). It's been 2 months now and my skin is still not recovering. It isn't peeling anymore and it's definitively smoother but the red color/irritation is still present.
I started last week a new ''regimen''
AM= Splash water on my face, then apply Hyaluronic Acid Serum + Cerave (in the bottle).
PM= Wash with Cerave. HA Serum and Cicalfate from Avene (''miracle'' cream to repair skin barrier).
It's still not improving, I wonder if any of you have already dealed with this and have tips or know how long it will take to get my normal skin back. |

I hate to tell you this, but I was in the same situation (salicylic acid for me) and it took something like two years for my skin to behave as intended. I used Dermalogica barrier repair as a shield, and had to rely on prescription cortisone in places for the initial oozing. I had to eliminate soap completely, shampoo with sulfates. |
