I'm just wondering how long people use a product before they review it..

I notice a lot of people review after 1 use, whereas I like to give it a week before a review...and then an update about a month later when you should have results.

How long do you use a product before doing a review?

I must admit I have reviewed some products after one use having been so impressed with them, or not in the case or the Dr H cleansing cream. We get samples that some times only hold on one or two uses of product in yet its still enough to prompt us to buy full size or banish forever....

that's true cindi...a lot of samples have made me ban them forever!! Smile

I get skeptical when I read a review after 1 use and the person never updates. I wonder what happened...if it lived up to the initial wow or not.

I have gone back over and asked a few people in pms if they are still using products they have used or not. Its not much good if they dont review later, it doesnt paint a true picture.

Sometimes if you go back to an old post and ask a question, they may have stopped watching the post and never know your interested.

I like to use a product for at least a week or two before I write a proper review. However, this also depends on my mood. If I try something and I'm really impressed (or I really hate it), and I'm within reach of my laptop then I'll review it right there and then and only update the review if I change my mind or if I continue to use it and have something else to add.

I do also sometimes post mini-reviews based on one or two uses of a product but that is more for the benefit of people who will search the forum in the future in order to find out about the consitency etc of a particular product. Obviously, after just a few uses you can't generally make any definiteve statements about the product's effectiveness. I like to read as much as I can about a product before I buy it, even if it is just a few sentences about how it smells, how it feels, if it foams well etc.

Even though I'm new here, I am currently trying out a few new products. I had already decided to wait two weeks before giving a review. For me, I think I wanted to give anything enough time to show the positive, as well as negative, factors so I could give a fair review.

Waiting a few weeks is obviously the best way to review but sometimes it's just too exciting and you have to tell everyone straight away Cool It is highly possible that the person who reviewed straight up on a product is still using it a month down the track but has forgotten to repost and tell everyone. Very Happy

it depends I haven't done too many reviews but I try and go for things which I don't think have been reviewed before or not too often. If it's make up we can do this fairly soon.
If it's skin care - I think it's ok to review even after one use as long as you let folks know - you can give a reaction to how it feels, smells etc but not really on it's longer term benefits. It's a good idea to go back and update our comments - something I can't say I have done but I'll certainly put it on my things to do list.
