Hello everyone,
Can anyone tell me if these devices work for nasolabial folds/deep parenthesis around mouth? If so, is there a good affordable one you would recommend? Also, is it painful or even safe to do to yourself?? Thanks! |

Hi benibenir- i'm sure you will get varying opinions depending on people success with microcurrent. This is my experience.
Microcurrent seems safe to do as long as you have a machine that is calibrated correctly and use the right power settings. You should barely, if at all feel the current during a session.
For me microcurrent works better on the upper face than it does on the lower. I see some short-term results after session but they only last a day or two at the most. I haven't really seen any real lift in the lower face.
The thing I don't like about microcurrent is that the results are not cumulative for me. I own a professional machine and have used it almost 8 months. I would hope by now I could do a treatment only once a month like they advertise but because the results are so short lived
that is not possible. If you want to try microcurrent there is a cheapie gadget on eBay for $14 that people seem to get some decent results from. I forgot the name of it but if you do a search on EDS you should be able to find something.
From my viewpoint I would either try derma rolling, Stop or facial exercises for more long-term results. You still have to continue these treatments but the result of cumulative and collagen builds up over the long term. Good luck and welcome to EDS.
ETA:
Here is the thread about the cheapie microcurrent gadget. I think it is called Biowave on eBay.

Does microcurrent help with actual wrinkles? I don't some much have folds of skin, it is actually an indent, mainly around the corners of my mouth. |

Benibenir- take your finger and pull up on you skin towards your upper top of your ear in different areas of your face. Does that help with the line? Sometimes what we think is a wrinkle is actually the fat or muscle that is dropping in our face causing the line. |

It does help a bit. The line is still there, but not nearly as bad. |

Naso-labial folds are just that - folds. They are not like the lines you get around your eyes or lips.
I believe that any facial exercise that lifts the cheeks would be helpful - it certainly has been helpful to me. I also used copper peptides and had a lot of firming in the area, although for them to disappear took a few months of exercise. |

I have this same issue. Microcurrent (PICO toner and Nuface) did not help me.
Fillers in checks do help. Facial exercise maybe. The Merbe is helping me a teeny tiny bit. |

When I lift the skin up by my ears, It lessens the lines, but they are still there. I think it is a combo of both tiny fold and line. My cheeks themselves are actually almost sunken in, so I definitely don't want to shrink them anymore. I still have an appt for fillers this week, but I am terrified of the needles and I know once the filler wears off, I will hate the lines even more! I don't want nor can I afford to be addicted to Juvederm - LOL! However, this will be the THIRD time I cancelled the appt , so I will never be able to go back again, and if I were to go to anyone, it would be this particular dermatologist. |

Definitely trying to avoid fillers. I can't afford it long term. I can't even afford more than one syringe short term! |

Benibenir- maybe you should spend sometime researching some of the other options that have been suggested on this thread and others. If they don't work to your satisfaction you can always get fillers later. Have you met with this Dr. to see if 1 syringe is even enough. I have never had fillers but I know friends that have had to have 2 or 4 syringes depending on their issues. So 1 may not give you the results you are looking for. |

I started with P&R cream, which I think is 2nd gen, then went to P&R w/Retinol, then Skin Signals. I use it maybe twice a week now because I'm running very low and have had other priorities. I think that with the New Year, I'm going to start with either their GHK serum or make my own GHK cream. |

Cookie is correct...1 syringe is usually not enough for areas like NL or marionette lines.
I would recommend facial exercise to build the cheeks up, which will diminish the fold/line. |

I would suggest to make your own Cu-GHK, way cheaper...u can buy it form skinactives. they say to add the tube in 4 oz but if u want it stronger u could add to only one oz, n use it twice a week or so, i am planning on doing the same. |

Yup - that's who I'll order it from when/if I make my own. I once found another place that sells the pure GHK but I'm not comfortable working with that. Skin Actives' price is reasonable - you can create your own CP cream at 1/4 the price of some other creams.
LOVE DIY! I started with soap about 3 years ago, am about to do lip balm and lotion bars (just got my waxes, oils and butters yesterday) and occasionally do lotion but not often. Oil in the shower works pretty well for me... |

I know that some say that soap is not good for your skin, but I have not found that to be true. I believe that your skin's PH will return to normal quickly, and if you're really concerned you can do a body splash that is more acidic - with lemon juice or vinegar or whatever. I don't do this - I use soap, and use a little olive oil when I rinse for moisture.
I get oils and butters from different places, but I like Liberty Natural, which is here in Oregon, and Columbus Foods, or Soapers Choice. Sometimes I use Wholesale Supplies Plus, although their prices are higher than I like. They have a couple of fragrance oils that I'm especially fond of! |

Benibenir,
Are you familiar with Artefill? It is a filler
that lasts for years. I had my N/L folds filled
as well as the cheeks and it's been 3 years. It looks as good as it did in the beginning. I don't
think the price is much different than the short term fillers either. It is bovine collagen and PMMA. The bovine collagen disappears within 6 months and one makes one's own collagen which attaches to the PMMA... something like that. It is certainly worth looking into if you are considering fillers. |

I personally use Frownies and they have made my NL folds much less noticeable. I have been using the Nuface Trinity, however I'm convinced most of the results are from the Frownies. Sometimes I sleep on my side which causes my cheek to fold into the NL area. The Frownies keep that area much smoother.
If you find anything that can further help with NL folds please let me know.
Also, I haven't been very committed to facial exercise. I'm still looking for the right one! |
