According to faithful users of vitamin C serums, such serums make the skin very glowy.
Why is that? How does it do that?
It makes the skin more glowy than other potent antioxidants. |

That never happened to me. It only gave me blackheads so I switched to SkinBiology copper peptides and have had good results. |

Which Vitamin C serum are using, VeronicaM? I have never noticed "very glowy" skin. Overall, I believe Vit C is way overrated by companies that use it to make serums. |

The glow you get could have something to do with the exfoliation properties of Vit. C vs. some other antioxidants. |

Vit C is the only product I can use every day without my skin looking irritated.
All other exfoliants such as, AHA, BHA, Retin A or retinol make my skin looking bad If I use it every day. I would say my skin looks drained out or kind tired when I use these.
So maybe for some people vit C exfoliates gently without irritating the skin and it is why the skin kind of look glowist for them.
To me it is one of the last product I would give-up on. |

The only C serum that I remember creating glow was from a company Kassy mentioned when she first came on here. (6 years ago) I'll have to research but their C products were really good for the glow factor. |

Veronica, you are right Vit C does not exfoliate the skin.
I have tried to find out how Vit C would exfoliate but found nothing.
I found that where it explains why Vit C works for a better skin complexion.
http://cserum.blogspot.ca/2013/06/the-miracle-of-topical-ascorbic-acid.html
QUOTE from the link :
In fact, topical Vitamin C creates a smooth complexion by normalizing the corneum. Instead of exfoliating, the stratum corneum retains its normal thickness, however the skin's tone, texture and pore size are improved in mere a fortnight of daily utilization of topical Vitamin C. Better still results are seen with the mixture of a Vitamin E cream. |

If you are think exfoliation like a TCA peel, no it's not like that. I said it had exfoliation properties. L-ascorbic acid Vit. C must be a low PH level to work. Most people say under 3.5. Because it is such a low ph it has acidic properties hence the word acid in its name.
ETA: Some of the other types of Vit c. like MAP etc. can have higher ph levels and work fine. |
