Here's a rather amusing video with a young girl going from "ugly" to "beautiful". But I thought it demonstrates perfectly how photos can be misleading - especially with before and afters - if the camera angle and lighting is not the same.
Notice how her double chin and nasolabial folds disappear when the angle of the camera changes.

It illustrates perfectly a point I was making in another thread. Having said that, whilst this is a great example of what is possible with manipulation techniques and the camera, I would still love to see some consistent before and after shots and still to this day don't understand why there are none. A lot of products have been around for a while - facial exercises for example, and I don't see why its impossible for the program creators not to be able to take consistent before/after shots without make up, lighting etc. Just saying but whats up with that? |

I know and I still don't get why there is reluctance from the pros part to give a proper evidence to this, because there are enough of them.
Someone is trying to nitpick at things I'm saying in another thread, but sorry when it comes to before/after photos people are not stupid and to try and tell us that the emperor has a new wardrobe when is completely naked is silly.
I know who you mean re Ageless Panos, you are missing the point. With FlexEffect or Facercise for example the before and afters we're always told are those submitted by happy users. Well why is it that they never do their own studies proving just what their systems can create, with photos that cannot be accused of trickery or photoshoping etc. Just adoesn't add up to me - sorry but I am calling a spade a spade here!

TheresaMary,
I understand what you're saying.
It's frustrating for me as well. I feel like there are so much to be answered for. |

I agree!!!!!!!! There is so much camera fakery going on, I think at least live videos give a better idea but even then camera, lighting, make up can do so much! |

This is why I'm so unphotogenic: being quite tall, people often take photos from my jawline area - very ugly at that angle! Generally people seem to think I look pretty good, but photos often don't show it. Frustrating! |

If you save it on your computer and run it in slow motion, you can see where it's edited at 8 seconds, and a 2nd person finishes the video.
You guys are joshing me, right... |

You don't even have to watch it in slow motion. You can recognize a switch at 8 seconds. Two different people - |

If you watch it in slow mo, you will see the hilarious face the heavy girl makes, just before the *switch*.. |

Kassy_A you rock!
I tried to wrap my head around how a nasolabial lines can be more visible when viewed from below than from above. This defied all logic and laws of physics LOL. I even tried to take a photo of myself from both angles and I look amazingly flawless from below! LOL
This video was boggling my mind because in a previous discussion where this topic was brought up in an attempt to throw shade at some progress photos, I argued that it is harder to see shadows when you take a photo from below. So if someone tilted her head downward, you would be more likely to see N/L lines and shadows than if they tilted their head back. So this video had me completely baffled.
I did suspect trickery and wondered if there was a program to check editing on a video kinda like how one can check a photo for Photoshop. But I never did get round to researching this. I'm tickled that the mystery has been easily solved without some special program.
Yep...I see it happening at the 0:08 mark just as you said:
Gotta love you girls! |
