Hi Everybody,

Here is a tip I think some of you may really find helpful.

I’ve had lower back pain off and on for some time now (mild arthritis... compliments of bodybuilding) I was doing some research and found that ginger works wonders for arthritis and other problems as well. Kills inflammation bigtime. Please take a little time and read the link below. Now here is something that I think most don’t know... It also can clear rosacea. It doesn’t mention it on the link but a friend of mine said she has managed to clear herself of rosacea by drinking Ginger root tea. I looked up on the net to see if anyone else had such a claim and sure enough there are several reviews about ginger root doing just that! I don’t suffer from rosacea but many of my clients do and it can interfere with their training.


Here is how I make my ginger tea. I don’t care for any of the ginger teas purchased at the store (not my favorite flavor and don’t want to add sugar) so I make my own... I buy a tea made by GOOD EARTH called ‘Original SWEET & SPICY’ It’s made with cinnamon and other spices and is naturally sweet; so much so that they have to say on the box “no sugar added’ or you wouldn’t believe it.

I buy fresh ginger root, grate about ½ inch, put it in a little mesh-screen holder for loose tea, and drop it into the cup of sweet/spicy tea. I LOVE IT! I drink it 3 times a day (no caffeine) It has done wonders for my back pain.

Search under spices and click on Ginger. Also take a look at Cinnamon...you'll see why you might want to put these two together.

I use fresh ginger. Our asian markets where I live sell beautiful ginger and I use it for tea and in cooking. They always talk about the healing properties - I believe... Smile

Ginger is amazing. I often drink ginger water that I make myself. Thanks for the reminder, I had slacked off drinking it the last week and my shoulder/neck pain that lingers from an old infection has been kicking up (probably due to the cold weather). I need to get back on it.

ginger is one of those good for almost any problem things...from cancer prevention, to killing infections, helping reduce pain, and quelling nausea and stomach issues.

i do find ginger to be a bit drying, meaning it will actually make you a bit thirsty. But I put up with it.

I wish I liked ginger more. I fully understand the health benefits of it but it's something I have a hard time getting down.

maybe combine it with something else? You can throw it into a smoothie or juice blend, if you make those.

Tumeric also helps with all the ailments Deb mentioned. I take it daily it is a help with my rosacea and arthritis flare-ups.

Basically, all the spices and flavorings used in Indian cooking are extremely beneficial. I am of Indian descent, and one thing I really need to do is pick up more of my mom's cooking secrets. I never pay much attention when i'm with her (and I havent been able to spend much time with her lately even) because she does it so well, I just figure it's better if she does the cooking and I wander off and start doing something else Laughing

Here's a tip: turmeric's power is boosted by black pepper, so combine these two together in cooking. Tastes great when stirred into eggs.

I've been using my electric tea kettle to boil water and add fresh grated ginger, with some lemon. I let the mixture sit for about 10-15 minutes. I've been doing this for about a week and it's very refreshing!

Here's another bit on ginger by Dr Weil along the same lines as Deb's post:

I drink ginger tea and throw a piece of ginger in the vitamix for smoothies approx 3 times a week, always have some in the fridge. I wish I would notice some positive effects on my rosacea! I like it for immune boost.

I use ginger for stir fry sauces and whatnot. Love it! It's too much trouble to process it every time I need it, so every now and then I'll just make a paste up. (Peel a few roots and throw them in the food processor with olive oil. Freeze. Spoon out as needed.)

I never really got into using the fresh stuff for tea. I'll use dried ginger and peppermint for tea, but I suck at flavoring the fresh root.
