Hey ladies, I'm about to turn 40 and more than a few strands of white hairs are coming out at my temples. I'm scared to color my hair. I know nothing about it and my hair is very dark brown, but in the sun it looks an unusual light golden red. I've always had compliments on my hair. It's the reason I've gotten all the compliments in my life. I don't want to ruin the "uniqueness" that has been commented on so much. But I guess I will have to to color it, right? What is the best kind of hair color, in your opinion? Another thing is that I'm a single mother of four and I don't have much at all to spend. So it'll have to be cheap. Any recommendations? I've seen too many people with "fake" looking colored hair to jump into this. KWIM? |

One idea is to use a semi permanent hair color that is a shade lighter than your normal color. This will color the gray, but not change your normal color. The grays after coloring will be just a bit lighter and look like highlights.
My hair has always been variegated with various shades of blond. I loved the uniqueness and the look of natural highlights. As I started to gray I used the semi permanent approach and its worked well. It's ideal if you are less than 50% gray. I use Clairol Natural Instincts. They key is to get a semi permanent not a permanent brand. |
