Hi Ive been researching the benefits of vitamin c for the skin, and the best forms to get the most benefits.
Ive been reading this article : hsmartskincare.c o m/treatments/topical/vitc.html
which says how ascorbic acid is very unstable- the type of vitamin c used in most serums including the SkinCeuticals range. Ive found this product on amazon uk: amazon.c o.u k/gp/product/B0063E47UG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
which contains a separate vial of vitamin c to mix yourself, so remains stabilised for longer. Also the ingredients do not contain ascorbic acid , instead its derivatives and more stabilised forms. From a a logical perspective this seems like the best vitamin c serum and is really affordable. What are peoples thoughts on this product?

just to add - the vitamin serum mainly consists of 6% Stay-C 50. Heres some info on it -
innovadex.c o m/PersonalCare/Detail/473/317173/STAY-C-50
and also 6% Illumiscin. Info on it here -

Its a puzzling product since the 2 ingredients you indicated it contains have opposite pH requirements. I dont know how they manage that.
Also, Illumiscin is a nice ingredient but it darkens if you dont add sodium sulfite to it, so hopefully they have that covered.
Give it a shot and let us know! |

thats a good point. The stay c 50 has to be kept at a ph of around 7 to avoid hydrolysis.
I can't find any formulation guidelines for the Illumiscin. Could you send me the link to show its required PH? |
