I've been doing this lately and it's made my hair SO incredibly soft. Even after it's fully dried.
It's vegetable glycerin, mine is NOW brands. Pricey-ish. About 10 bucks for a 750mls I believe? But you don't really use that much.
When I want extra softness I mix half and half glycerin/conditioner and let it sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing
This stuff is water soluble so I mix it in with rose water, or just purified water and put it into a spray bottle to use as a leave-in. |

That's a nice idea. sounds less less greasy than the olive oil. Maybe I should get a bottle from somewhere. |

Just your regular run of the mill helth food store It's a clear viscous fluid, kinda like a thinner, clear honey. |

I've been experimenting with diy hair stuff lately, so your post came just in time! LOL. For the life of me I can't figure out what glycerin could be doing to hair to condition it, but I'm willing to give it a try. Maybe there's something in the conditioner that's working with the glycerin? What brand of shampoo and conditioner do you use? |

Pardon the double post, but I just thought of something to ask. Have you ever used the glycerin in a hair mask? Like something that you leave on for quite a while then rinse out?
I have an odd treatment I like to do every time I wash my hair and I'm thinking I could just add the glycerin to the treatment instead of the conditioner. For all I know, the glycerin could be working with the cations in the conditioner, though. :P |

Pardon the triple post!
I finally remembered to do this when I washed my hair tonight. It's still drying but it feels silkier and smoother. I'll update later when I get the chance.
Btw, I added a small amount of liquid panthenol to the glycerin. I should have just tried the glycerin by itself first, but I'm a big over doer. |

Trying to fix my hormonal hair. Anyone use/add Peppermint oil for growth/strength?
Study from 2014
“This study investigated the effect of peppermint oil on hair growth in C57BL/6 mice. The animals were randomized into 4 groups based on different topical applications: saline (SA), jojoba oil (JO), 3% minoxidil (MXD), and 3% peppermint oil (PEO). The hair growth effects of the 4-week topical applications were evaluated in terms of hair growth, histological analysis, enzymatic activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and gene expression of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), known bio-markers for the enhanced hair growth.” |

I have done this a few times, but use vegetable glycerin. There are different types out there but I feel for some reason more comfortable knowing my glycerin comes from vegetables. It works a treat for me. My sons used to have dandruff at various stressful points (exam times for example) and I would add glycerin to their conditions and it would be gone overnight, so I think it moisturizes the hair and scalp to prevent dryness and flakiness. Yes, I use peppermint and rosemary oil for hair fallout. Haven't noticed anything yet after 3 months. Feels great on the scalp though! |
