If the products are sent to my place and I am not there, is signature required?
will the post officer just put it outside my place if I am not home? I live in a house not an apartment. I remember a few years ago when i ordered books from chapters, the post officer just put the books in my backyard. There were $300 books there.

Hello Jen,
I received all my EDS parcels that addressed to my office from my regular mailman ( who knows my name) without signing anything. The only one that was delivered to my home address while nobody was there was held at my neighborhood post office until the nextday and I had to show my DL to be able to pick them up. I live in Vancouver, BC. |

I think it really depends on where you live and is beyond the control of EDS. To be on the safe side you might want to ask the person who usually delivers your mail what they think would happen.
Or you could ask EDS if it's possible to send the parcel via registered mail. You'd have to pay extra but that way you'd be sure that you will have to sign for it so it definitely won't be left on your doorstep.
I live in Australia where most of the time they would leave the parcel at your door. That's why I get mine delivered to work, because even when I'm not here the office is always open. |

You are right guys. Every Post Officer might do a different thing. Some might leave valuable package at the door and some will leave just a note saying: "we attempted delivery but no one was home... your package is waiting at your local Post Office for your personal pick up".
Usually Post Officer working your area has a very good sense if it is safe to leave the package at the door or not.
The only way to have your package delivered to your hands is to register it. You can request it on your orders. Otherwise all of our packages are shipped with Insured Air Mail.
Either way, we take a full responsibility for delivering each package so it does not really make any difference to our customers. |

They said that it's lesser risk of losing package when lesser people involved with the package. So, they required pick up from post office. |

Hi
Thanks for all reply. The delivery is much faster than I expected. I ordered the good late afternoon, almost 5pm on Monday and received the products on Friday morning. No one home when they came to my place and left the products outside my back door. The post officer did very well. He put it beside my recycle box. Unless people walk very close to the door, otherwise, no one can see it.
I notice that the products were sent from Vancouver, the office of EDS. Can I order it and pick the product there and save the shipping cost? Sometimes, I just want to buy one product and shipping cost is then relatively expensive. |
