Grown in warm climates, jacarandas sprout beautiful bluish-purple flowers:
Jacarandas are immensely popular in South Africa--especially Pretoria. I believe that you might be able to grow them in the United States, but only in the South.
Have you ever seen one of these trees? If so, aren't they magnificent? What other flowering trees (other than dogwoods and magnolias) do you think are just as beautiful? |

Southern California has jacarandas that bloom around May. I love flowering trees. I'd love to go to D.C. for the cherry blossom festival. With the harsh winter we've been having in the midwest and eastern US, I hope the trees will still bloom.
There is another tree with yellow flowers that is pretty. I like magnolia trees. Heck, any tree with flowers is pretty! Wish I had a garden.
The only downside is the mess they create when the flowers fall but that can sometimes look like pretty, colorful snow. |

I saw these trees during my vacation in Australia. I was passing through a city famous for their Jacaranda trees and it happened to be during peak bloom time. Yes, they are beautiful. |

I have been told by an Argentinian ex pat that Buenos Aires has a wonderful jacaranda display - another good reason to go back! |

I wonder how long the flowers bloom? |

There were alot planted across Australia many years ago, and we have a beautiful display across the suburbs of Perth every spring/summer. I just love them. |
