Hello!

I have an asymmetric mouth. It seems like one of the corners is faced downwards. Can I fix this with facial excercices and what can I do?

With any facial exercise program you do – you will often find that they advise you to do a complete program for your whole face and not just the problem areas (i.e. your mouth) as the muscles inter connect and interwine with one another.

Now to help people help you a bit more, its helpful to know a bit more about yourself like how old you are – as some programs are geared towards undoing sagging etc, and some are just for toning and some are resistance based etc and these are all major players. Secondly you say one of the corners faces downwards, has it always been this way? Do your parents have that feature? Is it a habit/expression you make or something else?

Hey Theresa! Thank you for your reply!

I am 22. I guess it's been like that for the last few years. I couldn't see it in the mirror and I found out when I got a phone who rotates the mirror image. I don't think that my parents have that feature. The right corner is turning down when the mouth is relaxed. I wanted to post photos but the forum doesnt allow me because I am a new member.

Thank you!

Cool okay at 22 years old I’m guessing this is simply cause by you having a stronger triangularis muscle already. Rather than doing facial exercises, I think what may be better is to start something like Tanaka or Facial Detox massage instead on your face. This way you can release that tense muscle. You say the corner is turning down when the mouth is relaxed, but the triangularis may be engaged and that can be what is pulling the corner down. Take a look at Tanaka and Facial Detox. Both are great methods and should help.
