This is a face-off (well, dead skin cells-off) between Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel and Jason Natural Cosmetics Papaya Pineapple Enzyme Facial Peel & Mask.
I'm not a fan of exfoliators with small, scrubbing grains as they can irritate my skin and so I turned to papaya enzyme peels. Thought I would review both of these products together.
Elemis - a thick, creamy texture. Smells gorgeous . You apply in a thin layer and leave for 10-15 minutes then rinse off. Gives a very slight tingling sensation (hardly noticeable). It leaves my skin feeling really soft and gets rid of the dry, flaky patches of skin on my nose and chin.
I really like this product but at £23.50 for a 50ml tube it is pricey. Still, Ebay can sometimes be a girl's best friend!
Also, the Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel has recently won an In Style Best Beauty Buys Award.
Jason Natural Cosmetics - a gloopy, gel texture. Smells nice and fruity. Again you apply a thin layer to your skin (avoiding the eye area). Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes and then rinse off. I found that this one tingled more than the Elemis product. I also noticed that it was making my skin turn a little pink in places (must be that radiance the product claimed to deliver!). Once removed I didn't feel that it left my skin feeling as soft as the Elemis product did. It also didn't do such a great job at dealing with the flaky patches. However, my skin did look brighter and less blotchy after using this product.
I paid £4.99 for a 113g tube. So it was much better value than the Elemis.
The Elemis product seems more moisturising, probably due to the fact that it is cream based. Didn't get the same feeling of soft skin with the Jason product. Still, my skin and gel textures don't get along.
I feel that I had better results with the Elemis product but due to the price I think that I will have to limit my frequency of use. I'll stick with the Jason product for regular use (twice a week) and then pull out the Elemis maybe twice a month as a special treat (but I reserve the right to keep pulling the tube out to have a good sniff of its mouth-watering fragrance as often as I like ). |
