Hello,

I have just had my first ever consolation with a dermatologist and have been recommended the ZO Skin health treatment plan. I was wondering if anyone has any experiences of using the same plan as me to treat the same issues (listed below) and what results they have seen.

Here is a bit more information about me so you can better understand the issues I am trying to remedy.

I'm 25 years old, very fair skinned & dry/sensitive complexion, dark hair and blue eyes. I have rosacea, hyper-pigmentation/melasma on my top lip, the bridge of my nose and cheek bones.

From this system my main aim is to see drastic improvements in the melasma on my top lip which is quite dark (and deep according to my derm).

Products I have been recommended

Week 1&2
- ZO Medical - Foamacleanse (am & pm)
- ZO Skin Health - Polishing Scrub (am)
- ZO Skin Health - TePads (am)
- ZO Medical - Daily Power Defence (am/pm)

Week 3+ (4 month duration in total)

- **all of the above**
- ZO Medical - Melamin (am)
- Complex A (ret A) + Melamix

It would also be great to know if there are any recommendations for other systems/products that may be more effective in reducing melasma as this is my main problem area, I have read other threads in the forum and cannot see anyone with any definitive results from this product line ........

I did not follow the exact plan that you have, so I have no idea if you are interested in hearing my experiences.

The end result was very positive!

My regime was different and very aggressive from the start. This is a very strong medical grade skin care products that you cannot take for granted and overuse. You must reapply your sun protection every hour, even if you are indoors and during the day it is very dark outside and raining.
You can also forget wearing your regular makeup and sometimes the foundation lift off your skin because of the aggressive peeling. You will get people you know asking what has happened to your skin, because it will look so awful before it get better. Get in the habit of wearing a large sun hat on daily basis and make sure you protect your skin in the winter.

My first two goals was to firm up my skin and then address the discoloured skin.
Back then, I started off with the normal to dry skin cleanser, scrub, ossential growth factor serum plus (amazing product ever!) at night and the ommerse renewal cream. All of it made my face go super red and eventually, major peeling, then go red again, then peel. The cycle never ended and took forever.
Then after two months I added the radical night serum and after a month of introducing that, I finished ommerse renewal cream and started brightenex (ZO Medical), then I started taking melamin. The redness and peeling continued. Also the burning.

Everybody noticed that my skin look firmer and the the dark patches faded. I was doing this all winter until I ran out.
I have tried daily power defence and that stuff is strong! It peeled my skin and it would burn, but now, I don't have that issue and I find that product great for people who suffer breakouts.

Now, my routine is simpler. I use the cleanser, c-bright, radical night serum (the most amazing product ever!). When the summer is over, I may have to go back to using brightenex or melamin, but this time, I will introduce those products slowly and perhaps apply it once every two weeks.

I don't moisturize, but when it does get cold outside, I will use a basic lotion from Embryolisse. Sometimes I mix it with aloe vera and vaseline on those very severe red peeling days. I've been provided Obagi Hydrate, which is a very thick cream and was perfect for my peeling face/neck.

Here are some of my non ZO products I use now:
I have a moisturzing cleanser from Guerlain (cream cleanser that is in the blue jar) I don't use it much, but use in on those days when the weather changes drastically; Boscia black peeling mask, Shiseido brightening mask (a cloth face thing that you put on your face) and a free sample of a mask that I put on my breakouts (when this mask is done, I plan to buy one from Shiseido clarifying mask) and I switch from buying ZO scrub to using baking soda mixed with my ZO cleanser and plan to buy Sisley facial scrub to use on occasion when my skin is super dry in the winter and the brand has lovely scent for a relaxing luxury scent and feel to it.

The masks that I have are used depending how my skin is for the week. The Shiseido brightening mask feel extremly cool on my skin and I like to use it when my face was getting red.

Overall, my skin look healthy. My skin tone improved, I got back firmer skin and my breakouts are more under control.

The Oclipse-C sun protection is perfect for those red, itchy, peeling skin and alway reapply every hour.

I use ZO Brightenex which is really helping my hyper pigmentation. I am surprised this was not recommended for you if you have melasma. What I do is use a very small amount over cream, every 3-4 days at first and now every 2-3 days. Applied this way, I have no peeling or irritation and again I'm seeing a lot more evenness in pigmentation.

How long have you been using Brightenex? Why have you decided not to use the rest of the line?

I have not been offered Brightenex, which after reading up on OZ I understand to be the primary product for reducing hyper-pigmentation. Does anyone have any experience with Brightenex VS Obagi C-Clarifying Serum ?

I am concerned I have been offered quite a large cocktail of very expensive products for my relatively young skin (it seems a bit drastic) and am wondering whether scaling back the regime to just a few of the core products might still be effective in evening out my pigmentation issues?

After doing a bit of research as an alternative I am considering taking MSM and Krill Oil supplements, coming off my pill and introducing either the Brightenex or Obagi C-Clarifying Serum into my existing routine.

I decided to use only the brightenex as I didn't see any other product in the line that addressed pigmentation and didn't overlap with the brightenex. The cleansers and scrubs were not worth the cost and were just basic products that could be duplicated by any other line. I am finding the brightenex really effective, I have only been using it a little over 2 months but I am noticing a fading of my pigmentation---that usually gets worse at this time of year, despite sunblock.

You need to go back and see the doctor before you change the routine on your own. Express every concern, the redness and peeling and see what the doctor said.

I do know that you should not use Brightenex at the same time as Melamin product.

I've been using ZO for over a year. I had to get off the BCP and I got the side affects from it. ZO really changed my skin. It was a very long process, but looking and feeling my skin now, wow! I am very impressed and worth the money. I stocked with their brand. Now, sometimes I use a facial masks, physical scrubs and cleanser from other brands, but I always go back to ZO products and I never stop using their ZO Medical to maintain my past skin issues, which is discolourization.

Skincare,
Can you tell me how long before you saw significant changes? And how often do you use ZO? I started in April but only over other creams and twice a week. I feel now I can ramp up to more often and on bare skin, since I less irritation and redness....but I am curious when you really started to notice changes. I am hopeful this will truly help my pigmentation issues.

My pigmentation is very deep. Full coverage foundation could not cover them, so it took a long time for that specific spot.

The first sign was about four months, the bad spot was eight months. It has to come back but I know that this fall I'll have to go back to Brightenex. Currently, I'm on a normal skin care regime. My skin is even tone, firmer/stronger (I used the growth factor-doper amazing for people who are older) but I do get breakouts specifically along the jaw line, so I think it is hormonal.

I'm gradually introducing ZO to my neck and chest and I'm going through all the usual side affects, but so worth it!

I've used ZO under supervised care for just over one year now. Dancing

I'm not sure I understood your post, Skincare. Are you saying you saw first improvement at 4 months? And at 8 months, there were worse spots?

What do you mean "it has to come back"?

Hi! It was gradual. It was hard from the very first application. People made comments on beautiful skin after 4 months. Then it got worse again because I added other ZO products and got better several months later. Now I'm flawless and lifeless except around my chin & sometimes my nose.

I would post pictures but I'm not comfortable with that.

In new to this forum, so I apologize for asking questions on your post! I haven't learned yet how to use this and I noticed almost no one talks about ZO products.

I just got my ZO medical products yesterday, but since I'm still pregnant I can't start using it until after she's born.

I have the:

Normacleanse cleanser
-Batone Toner
-Daily power defense
-Melamin
-Oclipse C sunscreen

- Melamix
-Tretinoin

The esthetician didn't recommend the Glycogent, but that's recommended with the Hydroquinone System.
-Has anyone of you used this products before? If so, did you use the glycogent as well?

- I wonder in each order I should apply the Glycogent?

- also, what have you used on the nights that you don't use the Melamix and Tretinoin?

Are you having good results from ZO products? I spent so much money. I hope it does works.

Thank you!

Read my post above. I have not used all products you have, only some. The product selection was customized to my skin issues.

I use Radical Night Serum (retinol) at night and it is my HG!

I certainly understand not wanting to use the medical (or products with actives) while pregnant. (Especially HQ and retin a type products.)

Are you using sunscreen to prevent further pigment changes? A good sunscreen protects your skin.

Yes! I have been using Zo Oclipse C SPF 50. Before that I was using La Roche posey SPF 60.

Are you still using ZO products? Are they working?

I can't wait to start. I hope it works because I just spent $600 on the products. My baby will be born next month, so I can start right away since I can't breastfeed our children (they have milk allergy).

I am about to start on these products again after stopping them to have some thread vein treatment and going away, would be interested to hear what creams you have used with the brightenex.

These products are very expensive and if I had the option again would only select the treatment options, also very difficult to sustain if working in the pubic domain due to the issues with the redness and peeling, have heard there is a cheat sheet available for using these.

I am not familiar with any cheat sheet. I use the vitamin c cream for day and will be using Brightenex again in September. I will start once a week and slowly increase it to three times a week for a month and then back down to once a week for maintence. Inbetween, I'll be using my radical night serum. Then I will add the peptide serum for once a week use, on top of radical for maintence.
