I'm turning 27 this week and want to start incorporating a retinol product/night cream into my skin care regime. I have the start of some "furrow" lines between my eyebrows and VERY fine lines under my eyes.
My skin is quite sensitive with some spots that I'm finally starting to get under control. There are so many retinol products I'm not sure what's a good choice for me at my age. My skin is combination dehydrated and is starting to get dryer as I get older.
Right now I'm just using a basic eye cream and moisturizer at night, and I'm looking to replace either one or both of these with something that will give me a bit of an anti-aging boost (knowing at my age I don't need anything super strong).
If it helps, my current routine is:
Daytime:
CeraVe moisturizing cleanser
Quantum Hydrox Kalma toner
Clinique Even Better Essence Lotion
Vit C serum
Avene soothing eye cream
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer
Nighttime:
CeraVe moisturizing cleanser
Quantum Hydrox Kalma toner
REN Vita Mineral Omega 3 Skin Oil
Avene soothing eye cream
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer
Also twice a week I use Skoah's AHA masque followed by their calming masque (for redness but it's also antibacterial). |

I would add a sunscreen to your morning routine. Sunscreen is a proven anti-aging product.
I like Avene Eulage.
Some EDS members also do well with Paula's Choice retinol products. If you order from PC, try samples first. I also tried samples of her sunscreen and ordered her Resist spf 30.
I reviewed it here.

Ah! Good call out! I completely forgot to include sunscreen-I DO wear it every day. Right now I'm using Shiseido Ultra Smooth SPF38 facial sunscreen-I've tried lots and this seems to be the one that does the best under makeup. |

Skinceuticals Retinol .05 is a good product to start off. Use a richer moisturizer or mix in a facial oil such as rosehip, camellia, jojoba, hemp or a premade oil mix. All of these oils have skin benefits. |

Eluage is nice. People also consider the ROC retinol amazing and you can buy it OTC at any drug store.
Diacneal will help more with acne, but the glycolic acid requires you to start slowly. |

The Avene Diacneal has been reformulated with a new ingredient. IIRC it had 6% glycolic acid and that has been replaced by the new ingredient.
The US site has a little bit more information.

I used the original formula but have not tried the new formula. If I do, I plan on patch testing as IMO it is a totally different product. I hate it when products are reformulated and or discontinued. |
