latisse (lumigan/bimatoprost) all the same thing (.03% bimatoprost ophthalmic solution). latisse may use it to cure baldness? amazing if it can work on our scalp. what do you think???

i can't find the article that states latisse grows more hair follicles. i'm such an impatient person i closed all the windows before copying. (i shouldn't work in a chemical lab and stay out of the kitchen too) darn! |

I have problems with hair loss. I went to the dr and he suggested I see a dermatologist. My SIL who is a pharmacist says latisse will not work on the scalp. DARN! I considered just trying it but didn't want the latisse if it was known not to work. |

m... i don't know why it wouldn't work on the scalp when it works on the eyelids, eyebrows, and on some pple on the cheek. i'm just excited that perhaps they will come up something very soon for hair growth. *i miss my big hair days in the 80's* however, i would NOT experiment with this stuff at home.
luckylady: i'm sure a specialist could diagnose the problem and probably give you some effective treatment. BTW have you tried the marini hair conditioner and revitalash hair, here from EDS? i bought it with my fingers crossed, hoping it'll give a bit of boost. still waiting for delivery. i know if anything it'll take a LONG time to see anything, but if i come across a miracle, i'll pass it on. all the best to you! |

luckylady, I hate to say it but your sister in law I think is wrong.
Revitalash has just come out with "hair by revitalash" which is just what you are talking about.
Think about it....people on here have complained their hair on their cheeks grows long where tears wash some of the drug down there. I have super long lashes near the inner corner of my eye where tears escape too that I have to trim so I don't look like a freak. It most certainly works on your brows (YAY! no more overplucking for me!) and some people put some near the top of their foreheads at the side where sometimes hair gets a bit thin past the hairline. Basically, this stuff works wherever you grow hair. I would def consider the new revitalash product if I had alopecia...but since my hair is just thin...I'm gonna stick with supplements and Megatek....the hair by revitalash is hella expensive
*edit* lol I missed the previous post...whoops. Hair by Revitalash does contain the drugs though.
Here are ingredients:
Water, Acrylates Copolymer, Ginko Biloba Leaf extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Propylene Glycol, Swertia Japonica Extract, Serenoa Serrulata Fruit Extract, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Trifluoromethyl Dechloro Ethylprostenolamide, Glycerin Disodium EDTA, Aminomethyl Propanol, Chlorphenesin, Biotin, Panthenol, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Polysorbate 20, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance
bolded is the fancy shmancy name for the prostaglandin according to truthinaging's article.
supposedly this doesn't dye your skin on your scalp like it does your eyes.....idk if I believe that though. I can see not getting the itchy red eyes and iris color change because those are localized effects from direct drug contact which don't always happen anyway...but maybe the concentration is low enough it doesn't pigment the skin like latisse does to my eye skin. I don't mind it on my eyes, but the scalp would look freaky, esp with blonde hair. I'd read more on it if I were you. Especially if your thinking about plopping 160 down. ouch. |

hi all. i just received the revitalash hair today. after looking at the ingredients (as above) i thought i just bought $220 worth of salad extracts.
thanks for your clarification mex0500.

you mended my broken heart.
mex0500: what supplements are you taking for thinning hair? i'm all ears. and you're also using revitalash on your eyes? is the revitalash (for eyelashes)working? i'm interested because i'm expecting delivery of the revitalash (eyelashes) and the jan marini marini lash and hair revitalizing conditioner.
luckylady: any progress from your end? i was reading the many eyelash growth threads. perhaps it was the lumigan... but it mentioned one lady taking some extra lumigan that she still had on her finger tips and dabbing the thinning area of her hairline. i think the best thing to do is ask the experts from the lumigan/bimatoprost thread, here on EDS. what do you think? |

llina, I take lumigan from all day chemist, I paid a fraction of what revitalash costs - about 13 dollars....it isn't available anymore, but they have latisse instead, which is even cheaper! IMO, a better idea than buying anything over $20 for lashes. I've been on it a while and my lashes are ridiculously long...maybe a bit too long. They're twisting right now and nearly half an inch long.
There are quite a few things you can take for thinning (aka sparse) (or also actually thin) hair.
I have had a lot of success with Megatek, which is actually a product for horses...they have a "human version" which seems to me to be overpriced and only packaged/marketed differently.
Biotin is good as well.
Silica, Selenium, B-complex, MSM are others. They really make a difference for myself.
Lots of supplements actually help hair grow and have the right strength and moisture balance - its one of those things like skin that so closely shows your true health, so staying healthy affects this greatly, but these supps make a noticeable difference.
Do let us know how the revitalash for hair works for you! |

you know what really started to grow and thicken my hair? daily inversion.
i bought an inversion table (fitform inversion table from amazon.com) and within a month, without any other changes, my hair started growing like a weed. my eyebrow and eyelashes and hair all over the body, too. only in places where it is supposed to grow, of course.
i never realized this contraption could have so many uses, but it makes sense: spending time suspended by your ankles upside down every day makes the blood go straight to your scalp. it's the best "stimulation" method i can think of. it also helps eliminate lymph which i am sure helps, too.
of course if you are balding i don't think it will help.

I read that Nioxin is great for hair loss. You might want to give it a try too. Can't hurt right? |

mex0500: yes thank you for the tips. i looked up megatek... and it seems that it causes hair breakage. i'm going to ask my equestrian friend about this product and its problems. thank you. yes, and i agree, the supplements, as well as diet, and general health. i'm interested in this topic of course, because i'm getting older and its really time to "take care of myself". i have noticed my hair thinning among other things, and i want to get a grip on it as soon as possible. i think i have alot more reading to do. yes, i just started revitalash hair and will let everyone know if something amazing happens. i really wish latisse or some company could make a simple solution: one serum, on the head, bingo! hair like a savage. i'm going to keep using revitalash or marini or whatever till latisse comes out with something. i'm really excited. i'm tired of this... will "LOOK" fuller stuff. i'm getting tired of pple talking around things.
when i'm posting a reply, after writing abit, the writing screen starts to stutter (up and down) and my writing is below the post screen, in a way that i can't see what i'm writing. it really strains my eyes and gets frusterating to write anything properly. does this happen to everyone???? |

i totally agree. i love all the massagers... face, ankles, thumper, feet...i believe that even with regular exercise, i would even say athlete level, and general good health (diet, sleep, lifestyle, happiness, etc) there are benefits that only massagers/massage can supply. i've always been interested in the inversion table/chair. it must be amazing on the back and lumbar... to get a good stretch and straightening. it worked on ur hair? interesting. i'm using the revitalash hair solution (day 2) but i'm using it with a new kneading massager (homedics) that looks like a pillow, on my head after i apply the solution. this is just to increase blood flow and to massage out tension from my head/scalp. the pillow massager can be used for the head, neck, shoulders, back, and lumbar. it feels like two hands massaging on either side. i like it because it is not harsh like shiatsu massagers which can leave you with severe carpet burns. taking this all into stride, i'm still anticipating the new latisse for the scalp. it would really make my life so much easier.
note: yes i realize revitalash hair "allegedly" has prostaglanins but i'm concerned with how much. a low dose just to stay under the radar?from my understanding it is only latisse that holds the right to this patten... blab..lot of legal nonsense. so, i'm waiting for the big train! |

ilina,
just snapped an image showing how lush and full my hair has gotten since i started inverting, check it out! i massage my scalp too and always add rosemary oil (stimulating) to my shampoo, but it's the inversion that has made my hair very thick and full.

dear llina,
Thanks! just disregard my allergic and tired face, thank you very much!
The only supplements I take are ultimate omega by nordic naturals once or twice a way, and jarrow sil liquid silica (which is supposed to help with hair and nails) in a couple of ounces of aloe juice once or twice per day. Other than that I just eat healthy, try to work in raw vegetables and a lot of water, and hang upside down twice a day on my inversion table, which is made by Teeters, it's the "Fit form" model (you can google it on amazon.com). It was not too expensive, and I have noticed that my skin and hair are definitely more radiant since I've been doing this. I bought it initially for back pain, so these other benefits are extra for me! It works really well to elminiate lymph from the body, to lubricate the spine, and to decompress all the joints and bones in the body. And it helps with clarity of mind, too. I really, really love it, as you can tell!

the above is a local new reels of a hair loss specialist successfully growing hair on the scalp with brimatoprost. his patient had visible growth from daily use in 3 months. the conclusion of this reel states that further testing of dose, and frequency will have to be narrowed.
at the moment i'm using revitalash hair and jan marini hair. the topicals are supplemented with manual and electrical stimulation (massager). the revitalash hair product review has already been written ( http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=36980 ) , but i'll have to write up a new review incorporating the new addition to my hair routine, jan marini hair. i'm alternating these two products with great success.
RevitaLash Hair (46ml / 1.57oz)
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/revitalash-hair-p_10438.htm
Jan Marini Age Intervention Hair Revitalizing Conditioner (4 fl. oz.)
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/jan-marini-age-interventi-p_6826.htm
plus, in the new review, i would like to add the other hair and scalp treatments that i have used and will be using in conjunction to my revitalahs-marini hair routine.
e.g. have used the skinbiology's folligen hair and folligen blonde, ecrinal anp40
e.g. in the near future i will be using the follow hair and scalp treatments, in addition to my revitalash & marini hair. the two company products came with very good reviews and all four products are natural and formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Petrochemicals
-Phyto Phytocyane Revitalizing Serum for Women (0.25oz x 12amps) A rejuvenating complex designed to counter temporary hair thinning caused by stress, fatigue, pregnancy, medication, or seasonal changes.
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/phyto-phytocyane-revitali-p_8747.htm
-Phyto Phytoaxil Fortinfying Intensive Care (1.7oz)
Its protective and soothing properties regenerate and fortify the scalp. It works synergistically with patented Solanum glycoproteins. This botanical active ingredient tones and invigorates the hair. Dual action for double effectiveness, PHYTOAXIL thickens the hair and makes it fuller.

-Rene Furterer RF80 Concentrated Hair Strengthening Formula - 12 Ampoules -
A three-month strengthening program specially developed for reactionally thining, weak hair (following periods of fatigue, stress, pregnancy, etc.
-Rene Furterer Complexe 5 Regenerating Extract - 1.69 oz -

My dermatologist has cautious enthusiasm about bimatopros. He has been in the hair game for a while, so he tries not to raise his patients' expectations too high. He saw mild/moderate results from 10-12 of his patients using small volumes of Lumigan. He would have liked to use higher volumes, but it was a supply issue (insurance). I was the first patient he had that had access to large volumes of Allergan brand Lumigan and I was willing to make a $300+ per month investment long term. And not unexpectedly, I had the best results.
My plan for the next six months once I settle on a reputable bimatoprost source is to use 0.06% bimatoprost for 2 months, 0.09% bimatoprost for 2 months, and 0.12% for 2 months. I will visit my dermatologist before I start 0.06% to have him take photos (a new baseline) and I will visit him every 2 months for a new analysis ( I will inquire the next time I see him as to whether he can provide photos for me to post on this site - I have to be straightforward with him). At the end of the 6 months, I will consider what direction to go with the bimatoprost. I will also consider adding a topical anti-androgen such as CB-03-01 or RU58841. I was aware these compounds were tested in clinical trials, but I was hesitant to consider them until more data came out. But yesterday I looked at threads on this site and I was impressed at how many people have already begun making their own formulations. It gave me a buzz, because I love pioneering spirits in science (the astounding discoveries by independent scientists from the 1700-early 1900's is what attracted me to a scientific and medical career).
I did not notice any uncharacteristic circles or bloating/facial edema while on minoxidil or lumigan. But to be honest, I really didn't look for it. I'm aware that oral minox can cause sodium and fluid retention, but I didn't realize that many people were experiencing this with the topical. The mechanism has me interested. I am also very physically active, so my face is quite lean, and I may be less susceptible to bloat than others. |
