I have heard mixed things about consuming collagen, but I've not heard it linked to breast cancer. I think collagen consumption is okay depending on the type you get - and there are different types (type I and II).

I know one friend who swears by collagen shots she drinks on a day to day basis and does have great skin which I'm sure is helped by this. I tried them too and the first things I noticed were that my nails grew faster, but also that hard skin on my feet improved. I didn't continue with them as it was quite expensive but if I had the money I would have.

The pills you mention, you say whiten your body. Well that suggests to me that they aren't just collagen but also something else. The Vit C and Hyaluronic acid are good topics with different purposes. Not sure about L-Gluthathione - I know I've read about it as a supplement but don't recall it.

If the pill strengthens your nails and hair and you stop taking it then likely your nails and hair will at some point revert back to their previous weaker state. I do not know of bad effect, but the people who take it all continued to take it because they knew it was giving them good results they could see.

Hold on a second – that’s not what I am saying at all?

You are misreading things into my messages. You asked if there are or were any side effects – and what would happen if you stopped taking them. That’s what I meant by if you stop they will go back to former state.

Now you are grouping a lot together and it may not be realistic to expect collagen to deal with all of those. Depending on how old you are – acne can be related to stress levels as well as lifestyle. Wrinkles depending on whether they are repetitive movements or dehydration are different things needing different things to treat. Rather than attempting to white the skin, deal with wrinkles, and acne maybe you should focus on one element for a while – get that improved and then focus on another etc.

I can’t make any recommendations for you. What works for me may not work for you and vice versa.

I researched this myself, because I have some health problems but wanted to know if I could take collagen for my skin.

The general consensus is that most people can take collagen with no adverse effects. It should not be carcinogenic at all. There are actually some studies showing taking collagen orally improves bone health, heart health, and helps weight loss.

There are possible side effects though. I found out if you are sulfite sensitive, you may have an allergic reaction. Just check product reviews on amazon and iHerb, there are many testimonials. It also raises blood pressure in some people, but that side effect seems to be very rare. I say try it out and see how you feel, but start with a low dose.

I've had pretty bad side effects from the Neocell collagen. I had massive tension in my head and bad headaches, along with severe stomach cramps and diarrhea (sorry for the TMI). Just as an FYI- side effects are there. Sad
