I like doing my own nails and have tried all the major drugstore and expensive high end brands.
But had never really looked at the Hard Candy brand that is now only sold at Walmart.
I had happened to use up my metalic nail polishes and was looking for some metalic polish, when online I saw a Hard Candy set with mini bottles that was a decent deal with a dozen bottles from Christmas.
I bought this set a month ago and get it in the mail and when I went to open the box 4 of the polishes, that were never opened and not that old were half evaporated in the bottle, without ever being opened.
That is very odd and I have never seen this with any polish I buy-not even in the dollar store.
I then decide to try one of the bottles that looked fine and put some polish on one finger and there was a very bad smell of gasoline in my living room, so much that it made me dizzy.
I thought some of the polish somehow spilled somewhere, as it smelled so strong-but it was just the Hard Candy polish that was open a few seconds.
I've done indoor house painting before and the paint I used was not even this bad.
The Hard Candy polish also did not go on that nicely,I'm not sure how it even sells for $5 online and in the store.
I did contact Walmart and they did give me my money back.
Also, I tried to post a review on Walmart's website and it was refused or taken down.
I really think the Hard Candy nail polish could be harmful to pets and anyone who has any kind of breathing issue.
Hard Candy nail polish is made in China, but I have bought at least 15 nail polish that were made in China, from different Asian brands and have never had anything that evaporates or has a very bad smell.
I think a couple of the Chinese polish I bought that dry quickly smell like alcohol a bit, but it is listed as an ingredient. But overall the Chinese (and Korean) polish I bought smell like regular nail polish.
-most of the Chinese polish I bought is the brand BK, and just got Doann's Mirror Effect.
The Doann's is weird because I can not get it to look nice with a base coat or top coat, but it only seems to apply nicely by itself with no other nail products. Can't say I've had that issue with other polish I own...
Has anyone else had issues with the Hard Candy nail polish smelling like gasoline??
I swear it smells just like a gas station. |
