Can someone please help? I've been using tretinoin .5 for five weeks, and you can call me lobster women, because I'm that red, and my face is so dry if you dip my face in the ocean I'll suck up all the water with my face. My face also looks like it belongs in a wax museum, so can anyone please tell me what I can do? Why am I not peeling yet? Thank you so much. |

Okay first things first – 5 weeks is nothing. Please ensure you are wearing sunscreen. You are supposed to start out slowly with tretinoin. So I don’t know how often/regularly you are using it. But you work up gradually. So you start by applying every few nights, leaving a gap.
Second thing forget the peeling for now. You are trying to run before you can walk here. Peeling happens at different times for different people and is one of many reactions possible, like redness and dryness. Peeling isn’t actually a sign that its working better – its just one of many signs that its working but if you are not getting peeling it doesn’t mean its not doing its thing.
Now you say your face is dry – MOISTURISE IT. You can apply moisturizer to your face to stop it drying out. Many people do not start off with .5 but 0.045 because it is weaker.

Thank you so much for the advice. My Dr said every night, but I'll go down to two times a week. I'm using Neutrogena pure and free baby SC, but if theirs something better out there, I'll switch in a heartbeat. I'm also using Cerave pm many times a day.i am looking forward to seeing results, so when you said I'm doing this to fast you're right. Thanks again everyone. |

Maybe start out with every other night instead, so you give your face a break.
Sunscreen wise you just have to be sure you are using a high factor one.
With moisturizing, apply it half an hour after the tretinoin. You may be making things worse by moisturizing many times a day because the body becomes lazy and so stops producing oils etc. You only need to moisturize morning and evening unless you are out in a dry climate.

Thank u very much. I'm going to try that. I'm so excited, and that makes me want the end result now. Hopes everyone has a great holiday, and a great weekend. |
