I just wanted to make users aware of this product. It is very powerful despite making claims that it can be used every day!!!!
I had minor acne and combination skin with some acne scars. Bought the original alpha beta peel and used it every other day, sometimes only twice a week. After about 5 towelettes, my skin paid the price. I am sure it damaged my barrier and my skin was swimming in oil. My cheeks were never this oily, not in the most humid summers. I am now in process of elimination all harsh cleansers and acids from my face and letting it heal itself.
Please be aware of this product, especially if you have sensitive skin or spend a lot of times in the sun. It is very powerful. |

I agree it is defiitely a powerful product, but I love it! I use it only once a week and for half the recommended time (1 minute) but it works at keeping redness off my face and is all the exfoliation I do. |

Forgot to explain, Mandelic Azelaic acids have larger molecules that won't penetrate too deeply for a more gentle exfoliation.
Eventually, you will learn what type of acid and strength for different part of the face.
You can go with BHA on t-zone, Azelaic on the neck or lactic anywhere in between.
You can go different areas on different days.
Or apply them carefully on the same day on different parts of the faces, start with the weakest acid first and move to another area requiring stronger acids.
After you grew accustomed to Mandelic Azelaic, then the next one to try is Lactic, which sits somewhere in the middle between Mandelic Azelaic and glycolic/ salicylic in term of molecular size. |

Also pH plays a big part.
Azelaic Acid pH = 4 to 6. 4.9 ideal.
AHA and BHA typically between 2-3
The lower the pH, the more irritating.
Our skin functions naturally at pH5.5
So, for very sensitive skins, Azelaic is the best. |

I actually use the extra strength version and don’t find it that strong. My Ole Hendrickson lemon peel and Tarte Knockout feel way more effective. I don’t have sensitive skin and have dehydrated skin, oily with a dry layer. For those using acids, make sure your skin is completely dry before applying any acids as the wetness drives it in deeper, causing irritation. |
