I'm wondering if any of you have a suggestion on how to cure dark circles under my eyes? I have tried HUNDREDS of products, and none of them work. It's mostly because of the fact that most products help with puffy under-eye skin. But my problem isn't that the under-eye area is puffy... My skin is too thin! So is there any suggestions on any home remedies or any products out there that would help plump it up? I have tried cucumbers over my eyes, getting more sleep, different diets, different multi-vitamin pills, but nothing works. It feels like I've tried everything in the world! I need something that builds collagen (I think). And help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance. |

have you thought about fillers?
i read that restaylne is best for tear troughs but get it done by an experienced Ocuplastic doctor that specialize in injections under the eye. |

Lunarfaerie,
This is the thousandth thread about eye circles and under eye wrinkles, and unfortunately these questions get usually unanswered, because there seems to be no real cure. My under eye skin is really different from the other skin in my face, too. I have tried everything in the past months to improve my face, but now the contrast is even bigger. When I looked a bit older, people left me alone, but now that my skin is glowing, I get remarks about my eye area only! Like: You look great, but get some sleep!
My eye area looks much worse than the rest of my face. It is really annoying.
You are right, skin should be made thicker there, a lot thicker! I tried dermarolling it with no success, creams made not much difference, either. EES makes it better, but it is far from curing it. So I am with those, who recommend fillers, but I am a chicken. |

Have you eye cream containing retinol? It's supposed thicken the skin. |

I work with an acupunctor practitioner who also uses Chinese medicine and I have really dark circles. He told me I have cold kidneys which he could tell by just looking at my particular dark circles.
The funny thing is, during the cold months my lower back is so cold I have to be sure to tuck shirts and blankets onto the area.
If I'm able to sell my home I'm going to start treatments and maybe my circles and kidneys will get better.
Just think all beauty related problems stem from a more internal health issue.
Hope that helps. |

I was taking a product called Connectivar for my knees during ski season but ran out toward the end of March & have not yet replaced the bottle. While taking it, there were no dark undereye circles but they have since re-appeared. Connectivar contains Butcher's Broom which is touted to clear up the dark undereye issue, it strengthens those weak veins that are hiding beneath the skin under your eyes. |

i thought about going to an acupunturist too . i did actually and he put the needles on my body instead of my face. hurt like hell...but overall i felt better..no change with circles but once again i didnt put needles in face. i read that it will take multiple series of acu treatments to see results and of course go to an accupunturist who SPECIALIZE and certified with doiing the face treatment |

Just a thought - not sure if I'm on the right track but this is my line of thinking. Retin-a thickens the deeper layer of the skin but it takes time and until it happens the stratum corneum gets thinner which will make the problem worse. Nia-24 is proven to thicken the skin barrier and also built the lower layers of the skin to a point and minimizes the thinning of the stratum corneum by retin a. The traials showed this worked best when nia24 is used 8 weeks before retin-a is started.
What about trying the nia24 eye cream for 8 weeks and then begin using the retin-a. In theory you should end up with thicker, more resilient skin which should make darkness fade.
I've started doing this myself to try and firm and thicken the skin under my eyes and stopped using retin-a to do 8 weeks of straight nia24. I'm only on week 4 or nia24 so can't tell you my results but heres hoping it works!! |

It sounds like you didn't have a good acupuncture experience! I've seen two and have had needles inserted in my face, both times they didn't hurt at all!
I'm not sure about where you live but in my state anyone can claim to be an Acupuncturist. In fact I'm pretty sure there is an online coarse where you can get certificated, which is nuts! When deciding on one you have to be careful that have a lot of experience and practice. Also there was a different of acupuncture method between the two.
I really recommend Acupuncture it's the only thing that has helped with my pain. I have more faith in this method than modern medicine. |

OK, everybody, I just consulted a very good plastic surgeon about my dark circles two hours ago.
Here is what he said: Lower Blepharoplasty takes away bags (everybody has some small bags that may look like hollows, but they are bags in fact), but as it is done by taking some fat away from the area, it may worsen dark circles and veins underneath the skin!
He would not use any HA fillers under the eyes, because it may create bumps, bags. Some people do it in my country, but you can never be sure about the results. Fat grafting is the only option. Regular fat grafting goes away very quickly.
It is also available in my country upgraded with stem cells. But! If you gain weight, the grafted fat may grow too much, and pop out from the under eye area, and it is almost impossible to remove it nicely.
So, nothing to be done I guess. |

honestly injecting fillers IS the way to go IF its done by an Experienced eye doctor instead of plastic surgeon really.
The doctor I go to in LA is EXCELLENT and has a GREAT reputation.
He is known for the injector under eyes and cheeks. |

I'm too chicken to have any fillers under my eyes. I don't care how experienced the doctor is I would be afraid I would have bumps under my eyes!
I can't believe I'm actually saying this but I would rather have the Dark circles than bumpy under eyes! |

Sycamore, if you are still posting here, could you tell me what needle length you dried dermarolling your dark circles, and how many times you rolled? |

Home Remedies For Dark Circles Under Eyes
-Good fat in the diet
-Keep yourself hydrated. That means you also need to drink fruit juices e.g. cranberry juice.
-Detox your body through diet once a week.
-Consume more protein.
You may try a few home remedies but the chances of reducing dark circles are less. It will take a long time (as long as 3-4 months) to observe any visible result
-Use Raw potatoes, Almond oil, Mint leaves |

Hey luna, do you drink a lot of coffee/caffeine?
Also, maybe give facial exercises a try for a year or so before considering surgery. |

Some of the main causes behind the formation of dark circles are heredity, aging, dry skin, prolonged crying, working for long hours in front of a computer, mental or physical stress, lack of sleep and an unhealthy diet. Both men and women of different age groups can have dark circles.A completely natural ingredient that benefits skin around your eyes, almond oil helps lighten dark circles. Combine almond oil with vitamin E oil and your dark circles will be history. Plus, these ingredients really something that’s a staple in every household. |
