Hello,

I would like to kindly ask for and tap into all your wonderful wisdom on a skin issue I came across today.

I just met my friend's co-worker at a social gathering and she has some pretty dark and large circles under her eyes Shock . I found out that it's caused by medication that she's taking. I'm not sure if there is anything she could do to alleviate and reduce the side effect. She had to switch from another medication where the side effect had caused her to have frequent coughing fits.

Would PTR's K or any vitamin K cream help in this type of situation?

Thank you all in advance.

I'm not sure on this one. However, tying to look at this logically I would have to say that unfortunately probably not. You still have one thing that is constantly acting against you - the medication that is causing the dark circles (although I'm not sure what that would be or why). She might be able to perhaps lighten them but it sounds like an up-hill battle where the medication is continually undoing any results from the cream (assuming that it would work in the first place). So best case scenario would be lightening the circles.

Any idea what it is about this medication that causes these dark circles? If it is, for example, something like sluggish lymphatic draining then lymphatic draining massage just by itself might help her out. Whereas if it's something chemical in the medication then it's really tough to say....

white lotus,
When the liver is overloaded from coping with too much (ie medication), dark circles can appear. If your friend can take some liver support herbs or eat foods that support the liver, this may help.
In Chinese medicine, it is believed the eyes reflect the health of the liver & kidneys. I really believe this can be an indication.

Thank you all for the guidance and suggestions. Very Happy That's why I absolutely this forum.

It's a shame, but I agree with what you all have written. I don't know if she could switch to yet another medication that wouldn't give her these horrible side effects. Think

queenpedauque: You are spot on. Her liver and kidneys are probably overloaded trying to process the medication and the dark circles are a way of telling her that.

Mabsy: I agree with you also as I am afraid to suggest any herbs and or supplements to her, because of a potential drug interaction (bad) that would do more harm than good. Sad She wasn't very straightforward with me on what type of medication she's on. She did tell me that she changed her medication a few times already due to the side effects. Question

Dona: I will suggest this to her, though I don't know if any topical would provide any relief or help to her problem (per Maby's response). But, thank you very much for your suggestions. Maybe it will provide some relief for her.

Again, thank you all so much for your assistance. It was worth a shot to ask. Very Happy

She might benefit from cool wet green tea bags on her eyes- this is a lovely treatment that I swear by. Not sure about how it will go for medication side effect but it helps dark circles under my eyes. It feels nice anyway.

take care. Hope she is ok-

Can't vouch for this recipe but this is a food based approach to the problem:

I'm not sure if you'll have to scroll down to under eye lighteners or not. Smile

maddy: I'll pass along your tip with the teabags.

queenpedauque: I'll also pass along this recipe to her, too. She may actually benefit from cleansing her inside out.

Thank you so much again!! Very Happy wave
