So one day I woke up and decided to smear cow fat on my face. That's not really how it happened but something like that.
To make a long story short I had purchased Fatworks Tallow (cow fat)for cooking. I decided to be brave and try it as a moisturizer. Tallow is very hard in consistency, kind of like shea butter. So I warmed it in my hands and slapped it on my face.
To my pleasant surprise it sunk into my dry skin like a dream. I woke up the next day and my skin was nicely moisturized!
I then discovered tallow is also wonderful for irritated skin! If I use something that is a little bit harsh for my sensitive skin, it calms it right down!
Ok, ok, now on to Crunchy Balm, and why I love it! Honestly, I was getting sick of gathering the hard tallow and warming it up in my hands. That's when I discovered that Crunchy Balm whips their tallow with olive oil! You still have to warm it a bit, but it's so much easier to spread! I spray my face and neck with a small amount of water. I usually use about the size of a dime and warm it in between my fingers. You could get away with using less product, that's just what I like!
I messaged the creator of this product and she said it contains about 80% tallow and 20% olive oil. The tallow is derived from grass fed cattle, and organic olive oil.
I purchased the 2oz unscented balm which is $18 dollars. However, I purchased mine during a sale and paid less. If you sign up for their newsletter, sometimes they provide you with coupon codes!
I also wanted to add that I use this product on my lips. Sometimes if I use retinol products and my cheeks will become sensitive. If so, I'll pat the balm on instead of completely rubbing it in to form a barrier on my skin. When I wake up the next day, the sensitivity is gone!
Rarely, do I ever say "wow this product changed my life" but this one sure has!

P.S. I just wanted to say that I purchased this product with my own money, and the creator of this product has no idea I'm posting this review. |
