Hey hopefully someone can chime in and give me some tips. I think my skin barrier or acid mantle (not sure what the difference is) needs help. For about 2 years, I was La Roche Foaming Cleanser (has niacinimide) with no problems. Face felt a little tight after but lotion fixed it. Then this past October, I started to use La Roche Posay Toleraine Repair moisturizer (oil free with niacinimide). All was well. Then I started to use Thayers Witch Hazel (unscented, alcohol free, 3-4x a week) since November. That’s it. No acids or peels or harsh products. Oh and I stopped the Witch Hazel on March 8. Fast forward to mid April, my skin is freaking out. Burning and stinging when I didn’t even change my products. I no longer can use the La Rocha Foaming Cleanser or oil free moisturizer. Now I just wash my face with water and night in the shower. Use La Roche Posay Toleraine Ulta Cream and Emu oil. I had to stop using the cleaner April 21. I will say I was drinking tons of coffee/wine/beer. No water really. I took a super hot, steamy shower one night. Could all this contributed to a weakened skin barrier? It’s been about 5 weeks and my skin still feels so tight and stings. But all day, NOT only when I put my moisturizers on. I have no dryness visible signs (no flakiness, no peeling, etc). On Memorials Day, I went by the fire pit outside and my face felt even more irritated and tight. But again, no redness. Can a Foaming cleanser and oil free moisturizer really dehydrate your skin? I did have the heat going on in the house as well till about mid April. A derm once told me that sometimes our skin can go haywire. I did do an appointment over the computer with a derm yesterday. She said it sounds like weakend barrier and to use a bland cleanser and moisturizer (Vanicream). When I get out of the shower at night and pay my face dry, my face kinda feels soothed when I put my lotion on (just the one I can tolerate- Vanicream). But come the next morning, again the right and gradual stinging until I take my shower the next evening.
Sorry for the long ramble. Just trying to list details. Does that sound like a messed up moisture barrier? Also, I’m seeing posts that day day it take 2-4 weeks to heal. Mine has been feeling like this for about 5 weeks now. I appreciate any feedback or advice |

Also, I just would like someone’s opinion. Beginning of April, I sprayed Clinique Happy on my wrists and pulled my sweater sleeves back down. A little bit later, I went and laid on the couch with my head resting on my hands. The sweater sleeve was between my face and my wrists so it wasn’t direct skin on skin. This happened around April 3. My skin felt alright till about April 12.
You don’t think that perfume could have seeped through my sweater and went into the pores on my face and ruined my face right?
I spoke with my primary care and she also said it sounds like moisture barrier and no the perfume wouldn’t cause permanent damage. I’m so nervous about that part.
And advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you in advance |

I’m always doing something harsh to my skin, derminator, peels, fibroblasting, I found a great product at SkinActives Called Restoration Cream. It’s about 22$ and contains EGF . It’s very soothing and restorative. You might want to try that. Skin conditions often change , hormones, pollutants, food, so many factors can affect it. Anyone at anytime can become allergic to anything! If you had that fabric by your face i would start rinsing my laundry 2x. Starting with a Doctor is always good. |

You might consider discontinuing use of all facial products with the explicit exception of sunscreen which you should absolutely be using every single day rain or shine.
Give it a month and see what happens.
A thorough process of elimination should help identify the problem suspect.
That and seeing a dermatologist regularly until this issue resolves are my best pieces of advice dear. |

I would stop using the offending products. We can develop allergies to products after we've been using them a while. You might also want to keep a food diary for the next month or so, just to see if it's something you're eating. It's probably not, but you never know.
I use this, The e.l.f. Super Mask, the day after a peel or heavy microneedling session. It's very soothing and feels so good on my skin. If you decide to try it be sure to do a small patch test at your hairline or back of your neck to be sure you don't get a reaction. Good luck!
