Hi All, have any of you experienced side effects of using Matrixyl? I purchased Timeless Matrixyl3000 and after one use have developed new wrinkles and weird cut-like creases on my skin. I was wondering whether this may be connected with my using copper peptides around two months before? Maybe the substance triggered by cooper peptides which is reponsible for getting rid of damaged collagen was still in the skin and when Matrixyl informed of a non-existing damage it started to 'kill' the healthy collagen? Is that event possibile? I was thinking about switching to Synthe6 but I don't know whether it works in the same way as 3000 - by inducing the damage signal. Timeless is not able to provide me with this information...

Thanks!
Sandra

Matrixyl 3000 peptides may help stimulate skin to replenish lost collagen.

The thing is most people introduce something new to their skincare routine and don't stick to it long enough to determine if it had any real effect.

I suggest sticking to your skincare routine for 40 days and then adding or removing one thing only for another (you guessed it) 40 days.

What you're describing when you say "cut-like creases" in your skin could potentially be caused by the following:

- not using sunscreen

- lack of adequate moisture in the skin

By simply using sunscreen every day, applying moisturizer when your skin feels dry, and sticking to a skincare routine, you should start to see an improvement.

Hi there, thank you for your reply.
I use sunscreen everyday and would not dare continue using a product that created such negative changes in my skin. I do hope that these cut-like creases result from insufficient moisture but I also have new 'dents' on my skin and winkles that were not there before.

SandraJK, were you ever able to get to the bottom of this? How are you doing now, a few weeks later?

Hi : ))

I have talked to two dermatologists and they said that it is not uncommon for this to happen. We can never be sure how our body will react.
I am now in the process of strengthening the lipid and moisture barrier of the skin - the cut-like creases are less visible but it's only thanks to the moisture, once the skin get a bit dry they become visible just as they were before. The same applies to the rest of the changes. I am still waiting to see whether anything will change with the use of cosmetics (no experiments for me after this, I am sticking to vitamin C for now), if not, I will opt for some treatment like PRP.
Searching the Sederma website, I found an information that 2-4% of Matrixyl3000 is the recommended amount, Timeless gives us 8% which I think may be too strong and, in more sensitive individuals, may give negative effects like the ones I have experienced.
It is hard to find non-biased info on Timeless website - my less positive comment was never published.

Hi SandraJK, I can't believe timeless deleted your review! That's so disappointing. The Ordinary's Matryxil product has 10% of the peptide combo and it's hailed as like the greatest thing ever. I actually used it for several months with no issues, but I read your review and one other adverse reaction report and I'm so risk averse, that might mean goodbye to peptides for me. It's a shame too because I have some good creams and serums that I won't finish now, but it's not the first time that's happened (I know all of us skincare addicts have a "discard" stash). I truly can't believe you've had this reaction. I thought it was reserved for copper peptides or argireline but you got it from Matryxil. Thankfully you caught it early and it's treatable. You will heal. I hope that you do and that you don't let this stop you from enjoying skincare in the future Smile

It always was a bit suspicious to me that they have only positive reviews on their site...But I also couldn't find any negative opinion elsewhere, only 3-4 comments on Amazon mentioning about looking older after using the product. But then there were comments that the product was a fake so I ignored them.

Although it is 10% altogether, each one of the peptides is probably at a safe and recommended level? The reason why I went for Timeless is because of the hair growth that people reported when using The Ordinary. Ohh, how I regret it now, it would have been so much easier to get rid of that hair Rolling Eyes
If you have been using the product for so long and so far it hasn't done anything bad maybe it's worth going on Smile ? I developed these negative changes after one use.
Ahh, the "discard" stash, my heart hurts every time I think of it Sad But also thanks to it my boyfriend has his own routine - his skin is usually fine with the cosmetics that do not suit me (apart from Benton fermentation essence Very Happy)
I also still can't believe it. I would understand if I splashed half a bottle onto my face but I used 1 drop. Ridiculous.
There are different peptides in cosmetics, some occur naturally in our skin so those probably cannot be harmful. Matrixyl3000 is a synthethic one. Maybe investigate the inci of the products you have more closely before discarding them ?Smile

Thank you for you kind words
Take care Smile)
