Hi guys--
So I've been trying a lot of different products lately (thanks to this forum) and recently I've been loving the Topix Replenix Serum in a pump tube. I recently ordered a new eye cream NeutralEyes (it's good not great) and it's in a little glass tub. I couldn't help but think about how much I like things that come out of a pump better than I like things that come out of a tub. When I take the cream out of the tub I think about how I get my germs into the cream, but at the same time, when I use the serum I wonder if I'm getting everything out of the pump tube. I guess I'm asking...does anyone else feel the same way?! Does anyone like tubs (for what products) or do you feel like I do? I guess I'm a fan of pump tubes or upside tubes the best--I've also heard that some pump tubes have sacks in the tubes so basically it squeezes all the product out as it goes along. Is that true?
Just some thoughts |

I feel the same way. I prefer to buy skincare in pump packs or at least in squeeze-tubes. There is a really nice Sothys cream that I adore but have not bought because I'll get a 50mL jar. I'm waiting until it comes up as GWP in a smaller tube and then I'll buy something else to get the cream
I must say that this doesn't bother me so much with masks because I use a spatula to get them out of the jar - I'm just too lazy to use a spatula with a cream every day though..
Re: pump packs - there are different kinds you can get. Some waste no product at all but some can leave a fair bit behind. |

Use a clean cotton bud each time to take out enough cream for application. |

What a good idea! I will do that with the eye cream I have now. With cotton bits get into the cream?
Masby, I totally agree with you about the jars. A friend of mine is in love with Sisiley products and especially the eye cream (Eye & Lip Contour Complex). I use my current eye cream because it was given to me, but I was thinking about purchasing the Sisley product until I saw how it was packaged.... |

...all that said, tubs do look soooo cute! That evolution stuff on the other thread looked mucho pretty. I would like! (but not use cos like you say, yuk! cotton buds don't protect against curious tots and teens and their icky mitts either! )

I think tubs would definately contain some form of germs etc. unless you used a spatula each time and then kept that somewhere sterile in the meantime (quite a mission), but in saying that I lose out on the last bit of product in tubes or just get too lazy to bother getting it out and I so like jars better (much prettier and nicer to use) so I guess i'm pro-jars and jar-germs as such. They can't be that awful otherwise they wlouldn't produce products in jars surely? |

I think that the germ/contamination issue in tubs is a bit over emphasised. I think that it would probably be a problem if you had multiple people using the same product or that your hands are not clean when you are using these products. But, also in the same circumstances, you can have contamination issues on the tip of tubes where germs can grow as well. |

I wash my hands and face before applying my products so I don't worry a whole lot. I always do my eyes first though as they'd be the worst to contaminate. |

I agree, you just have to use common sense and wash your hands before applying product. Don't handle raw chicken and then stick your hands in your moisturizer!! Most people's hands are clean because they have just washed their face with their hands or just gotten out of the shower. When I am not just out of the shower, I always wash my hands before I started applying product to my face. |

ewwwww.....who doesn't wash their hands after touching chicken???
Oh right, the same people that don't wash their sink after washing the chicken in it...they probably have built up a tolerance to germs!! |

Pretty gross...just trying to make a point about using common sense. Use clean hands and you shouldn't have any germ problems. |
