Hi all,
I'm a 21 one year old girl who's been juggling a mix of really sensitive skin with mild-moderate acne for the past few years. Up until now I've had my skin pretty much under control using a combo of Dermalogica and Thalgo's sensitive skin ranges and the diannette pill for the acne. For some unknown reason my skin has gone crazy one me!!! I can't get rid of these horrible, huge, red sore pimples from my chin at least when the stupid things don't hurt I can forget they're there!! Has anyone got any suggestions of a good acne product that will help with the pimples but not irritate the rest of my skin? I am considering stopping the pill. I think maybe it's messing up my hormones after being on it for so long? I have read that pimples on the chin area are often caused by a hormonal imbalance. Any natural remedies anyone has tried and had luck with?? I'm open to pretty much anything!! Thank you |

Yes I was in the same situation as you are im 22 and have been Cillest for a year now, before that I was on Diannette. I used to constantly suffer fron outbreaks, mainly on the chin area going up towards the cheeks. It is definatly a hormone imbalance, I went to a homeopath which corrected that as I was reluctant to come off the pill (the thought of having children puts the fear of god in me!!!!).
If homeopathy is not an option for you then strong vitamin supplements of vit A, B complex, Zinc, vit E and Beneficial Bacteria works wonders as well
How long have you been on Diannette, I was on it for 6 years, if you have been on it a long while and have only recently had a major outbreak then I don't think it will be soley down to the pill.
Anyway would definately recomend the homeopathy look forward to hearing from you |

is the skin on your chin sensitive as well? I would recommend a clay mask, just for your chin area. clay masks dry and so dry out your skin, really good for oily/problem skin. you could buy a ready mixed one or mix one yourself. go for a powder: either kaolin or fullers earth (fullers earth is best for breakouts) and a liquid: orange flower water or witch hazel (witch hazel being best for breakouts). I'd also say go and have a prescription facial because the therapist will be able to see the problem better than me and use the best products for your skin and recommend what to use at home. The good thing about using a mask is that you can restrict it to one area on your face.
Have you checked the side effects on your medication? it could be causing the sensitivity as well as the break outs. Good luck! any more advice jus pm me!! |

Thanks for the advice guys! To answer your questions, I've been on diannette for about 6 years. I had the same problem with the breakouts about 2 years ago and I stopped taking the pill for a while. My skin was perfect for about 6 months and then all of sudden my entire face broke out in these huge sore lumps so I started on diannette again. That cleared it up within a month or so and I've been taking it ever since (about a year and a half with no problems). I'm going to look into some of those vitamins you recommended. I've read somewhere that milk thistle complex can help? Has anyone had any experience with that? Thanks again for your help |
