Hi,
I know mircrodermabrasion helps with scaring. There are several products on the market that sell do it yourself mircrodermabrasion products. I use Epidemx now. I like the product for exfoliation. Yet, I am now wondering if the particles that fall into the sink are really skin. My facialist used it on me at a recent facial. She thought it was just a product reaction and not skin at all. So, I would get more information before using a product that claims to be just like salon microderm.
AlphaDermaCE is advertised to get rid of scaring. I use it for Antiaging and do not have any scars. If you are interested I would go to their website, and check it out. Before purchasing I would call the company and discuss it. They also stand by 100% guarantee with no time limit. I love this company!
Is it scaring or just discloration? If it is just discoloration their might be another alternative.
Best of luck. |

Oh, I thought you were talking about scares. Other then microdermabrasion the only thing I can think of is facials with a series of mild peels. That helped my daughter so much with pigmentation problems.
Products for this are out there. However, I am no expert on this. Just wait, you will get many great suggestions You will love this forum. |

Hey Winnie...
I wanted to thank you for taking the time with so many people, you are so informative and I can only imagine (since I'm rather new here) that you have helped so many...
I also use Epidermx (as you've probably read...) and I must say that I've really looked closely at those peelies that fell into the sink and it DEFINITELY has alot of skin in it. Now I'm not saying it's ALL skin (and quite frankly-Thank GOD because I would be skinless!) (if any of you have ever used it, you'd know what I mean!) but you know when your rubbing the Epidermx Microdermabrasion on and the cream becomes absorbed into the skin.. for just a little bit right before the "peeling" effect the crystals are sitting on top of the skin...you can actually see them...very tiny little things...but then you keep rubbing a bit more and BLAMMO suddenly skin starts rolling up and falling into the sink (where it belongs! Yay!)
If it were just the product, in the sink, it would just be the crystals, and it would be white since the product in the jar itself is white...but it's not it's the color of dead skin...of course the crystals are in there too, but it is definitely the skin.
And not only for the reasons above, but you have to be able to tell as there is no way just some cream could make your skin THAT SOFT! It's definitely new skin you are revealing...with you doesn't it even make your skin more sensitive, like you can FEEL better, the washcloth FEELs different...ya know? Not to mention just how it is able to heal...that is how microdermabrasion works...have you ever had a real microdermabrasion treatment? It too feels that way when your done. and back to the color thing...the "used" crystals at an salon aren't as white either, like the ones in the sink...
And besides, if it wasn't removing the skin like real microdermabrasion, it wouldn't be helping my acne scars and fine lines...right?
I just don't understand why your friend would suggest that it wasn't removing the skin, as it is so obviously doing so...
I think I'm going to take these shavings to a lab and have them tested to see just what's in there!!!
That will end the mystery once and for all!
anyway I've blathered on long enough again...

I found in the past when I was using Dermalogica Microfoliant on a regular basis and also using a vit C serum at the same time that the post-acne marks didn't last as long. Mind don't last all that long in the first place but my experience was that the time was reduced still with those two products.
Now, the Microfoliant is an exfoliant but it does have some skin brightening ingredients. I'm not sure if it was the exfoliation itself or also those ingredients that helped in this case. Vitamin C is supposed to help heal the skin (among other things). |

Yeah, whether I messed with my zits or not, I still scarred. |

Is there anyway to prevent scarring? I find with zit cream too that it leaves the skin dry and red where you've applied it to the zit. None will heal nicely with no indication that there was a pimple there. |

There's a lot of great advice about scarring in this thread:

For me, the only way to prevent scarring is to prevent the acne in the first place. Easier said than done. Nothing works the same way for everybody, unfortunately it's just trial and error.
I have never been a big fan of spot treatments - they are always too irritating to my skin, which is already freaked out when I have breakouts. For me, adding irritation to already inflamed skin just made my scarring worse. I figure, when a big zit is erupting, a spot treatment can't reverse the damage and heal it at that point anyways. |

To alleviate the appearance of mild acne scarring, many dermatologists recommend alternating nightly the application of a strong prescription retinoid (Retin-A) with an unbuffered glycolic acid solution. |
