I've got REALLY dry lips, and I mean REALLY dry. I've tried all kinds of lip balms...
Carmex
MAC
Yves Rocher
Life Brand
Lipsil
Blistex
Burt's Bees
Nothing seems to hydrate my lips for more than a few minutes . Have you got any recommendations for a really good lip balm? |

Dr Hauschka lip balm, in a stick or a pot, is a life saver!
It´ll nearly eliminate the need for lipbalm! I´ve used the same stick for about nine months (!) I hardly have to use it more than once a week. |

Ooh! Great thread. I'm a lip balm addict to and have tried about everything. I read some great reviews on MUA about one made by Ora Labs called "Essential Lip Moisture". So I began my search for it. I looked everywhere and even emailed the company but got no response.
Several months later as I was browsing through the lip balms at Walgreens, I found one! Although the good reviews were on the scent "Almond Swirl" I went ahead and bought this one even though the it was "Citrus Mist". Well this scent is pretty horrible and my boyfriend hates to kiss me with it on, but it is the best lip balm I've ever owned regardless. I can deal with the smell since it goes away after a few seconds, but I'd LOVE to find the almond one that everyone raved about. I guess they stopped making these though and that's why I've only ever found one |

I LOVE the blistex in the blue jar (also comes in stick now). Think it is called MEDIX It is pretty strong stuff and *stings* but really heals my dry lips...I even put it around my nose when I have a cold |

I go through lip balms like no ones business. I usually have to in my vest cover, one in my jacket, keep another in the squad glove box. There's currently 2 in my locker, 2 in my truck, 2 in my car and I'm afraid to even look in my purse or gym bag. Long and short of it...I haven't tried anything store bought yet that stays. They all feel nice going on but I'm re-applying within a half an hour or so. I'm going to try some of the ones mentioned here, hopefully will work. Even my DIY balms don't do any better than the store bought ones. |

This is a little off topic (I still haven't found the perfect lip balm for either me OR my husband, whose lips are very dry in winter and even resistant to shea butter).
But... I can tell you this much: do NOT use Dr. Hauschka's Eye Contour Day Balm on your lips. I bought the balm and read about how great their lip products are and figured, what the hell! They can't be that different and skin is the same all over the face, right? Soooo wrong...
Tried it today and here we are, my husband and I, sitting here with our lips in the worst shape. The top layer looks like it's pierced many many times, all cracked. The lips are hurting and sting from everything and from nothing at all. It's very painful. Wiped it off, but it probably already sunk in and it's not helping. I never used to get cracked lips before this, slightly dry but never cracked.
I'm still going to try Dr. H's REAL lip balm. Hope it works better than this. And let this be a lesson to all |

I've tried so many. The best lip balm I've found is Karite-Lips shea butter vanilla lip balm. This stuff moisturizes so well, I go for hours without needing to reapply.
The bonus is how good it smells. After I kiss my S.O., minutes later he says "I smell cookies. Are you baking cookies?" I love this stuff. |

Pumaka:
I'm very sorry about your and your husband's lips but.... but.... but, I can't stop myself from laughing. Don't get mad please!! I thought I was the ONLY one do something STUPID like this. Few months ago I put Murad Vitamin C Infusion Home Kit on my lips (30% vitamain C) and my lips literally burned. I got Angelina Jolie's lips for 3 days and peeling for 4 days. Now, about 1/5 of my upper lip is still very dry and peels from time to time.
Hope both of your lips getting better soon. Try to put lip balm that contains aloe vera. That's what my pharmacist suggested and it really soothed my lips a lot.
Caspers Mum told me "Follow the instructions." and now I read at least 3 times if I'm using a new product. And I only put it where the instructions says. |

I like to put 100% Lanolin (from the tube) on my lips. I especially like to put it on before bed and then I wake up with really soft, moist lips. |

For some time now I have used a lip balm made from olives which I am very happy with as it stays moist for a long time. It also comes in different fruit flavours.

The lipbalm I have been using for a few weeks now is by Cococare and is simply called "Cocoa Butter Lip Balm" (very imaginative, I know!). Carrie sent this to me recently and said it was her fave no frills lip balm. I'm loving this! Makes my lips really smooth and it smells like cocoa (thanks Carrie! ). |

One of my favorites is Kiehl's Lip Balm #1. When my lips get super dry, I apply before going to bed and wake up with moist pouty lips again. |

Longtime members will recall that I am a lip product junkie, so I’ve tried nearly every lip balm under the sun from the cheapest drugstore version to ones costing nearly $40 per tube!
For an intense overnight moisture treatment, I love my Gatineau Electelle Lip Care. During the day, I have to confess that “Cococare Cocoa Butter Lip Balm” (in the same yellow tube as the infamous 100% pure cocoa butter stick) is rapidly becoming my go-to lip balm. It costs only 99¢ and you can find them at Walgreens or CVS, in the skincare/body lotion aisle, in a bucket on the bottom shelf next to the bucket containing the “Yellow Stick - Pure Cocoa Butter.” I love this lip balm so much that I’ve got a half dozen of them scattered strategically around the places that I frequent (home, office, car, friends, etc.). I refuse to be without them!
My fave tinted lip balms are from Smashbox, called Smashbox Tinted Lip Treatment. They come in five shades and I own and love four of them! |

I discovered a gem of a lipbalm, I don't think it is actually meant as a lip balm but my lips love the stuff.
It is called 'Vita Fons II salve'
and the ingredients are: Castor Oil, Arachis Oil, Beeswax, Zinc Oxide, Cetostearyl alcohol and Vita Fons II (this last bit is 'numerous energy')
'For personal use there are eight different Vita Fons II products encoded with numinous energy. All are designed to improve the interface with the incorruptible Divine Core, which encourages the recipient's body, soul, spirit, brain, emotions and mind to work as a single unit, enriching, protecting and transforming itself. (All the Products can be used by vegans with the exception of the Salve which can be used by vegetarians.)'
It is also good for any dry skin patches.
Here is the website with all the relevent information:

Um, well I guess lip balms are already a favourite product category so chosing the best of them can be quite tricky...
From all the lip balms I have used (and they are quite numerous) I can recommend the following ones:
1)For a stick that you can carry around with no need to involve your fingers I suggest Garnier Lip Cocoon. It is in an orange container, smells divine and makes your lips soft and hydrated. It contains micro fruit oils and karite butter. It claims that it leaves a protective film on the lips that is really efficient and helps to repair and protect your lips. Thay become 86% more hydrated in 14 days.
2)Vichy Nutrilogie Levres. This is in a tube with a bevelled tip but these always make me wanna rub it on with my finger rather than with a plastic applicator. This is kind of thick but does not leave white residues and has a rather strong smell, not an unpleasant one though. The technology that this product uses is double. First it contains patented Sphingo Lipd to stimulate natural lipid production and Flexilip to sstimulate the production of collagen. |

MACrisis, not mad at all, I'd laugh at myself too if it didnt' hurt so much.
It's getting better, we're now using Decleor Aromessense Rose balm (all-healing wonder?) and it's really helping.
Still, I ended up with this 3mm crack almost right in the corner. and I'm going to the dentist for a cleaning tomorrow!!! It's only going to make it worse.
Read instructions is going to be my mantra now.(It also says to use this Dr. H eye balm during the day only. OF COURSE, I used it at night. I woke up with the puffiest eyes. Some days are like that, and I swear I'm just disoriented because of spring. always feel a little crazy first week of March).
Sorry, getting way off topic here.
Back to lipbalms and if anyone has any suggestions on how quickly heal my crack for tomorrow appointment, please tell! |

Modelle Collagen Lip TReatment. It does not make the lips appear fuller, that's why I wanted to try it but it is soooo moisturizing and it feels so good going on that I apply all day.
Has like 50 emolients in it. Not literally, but it has alot. |

You "burned" more than I did. If I were you I'll cancel my dentist appointment. I had a question about one of the hottest mask discussed here and wanted to do the same thing as other members - leave it on overnight. But Caspers Mum told me "Manufacturer knows its products, follow the instructions!!!" We learned the lesson the hard way!! |

My favorite is Hemp Balm by the Merry Hempsters. I used it for years and loved it. No stickyness at all and totally smooth. http://www.merryhempsters.com
I've switched though and am now using this organic shea butter mix. It's more then just for lips but it is now my favorite thing for my lips. It smells wonderful and feels amazing. It's a bit gritty putting it on but that disolves fast. The ingredients are Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Olive Oil, Beeswax and Lime Oil.
By far the best so far. The organic makeup company makes a decent one too, a vegan one, that's a bit heavier.

I found Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 to be the best remedy for my insanely dry chapped lips. Since I started using it in January, I have had nothing but amazing results....my lips are FINALLY moist and smooth again. Highly recommend giving it a try. |
