Hi,
I am getting Scalp acne on top of my head.
Does anyone know a way to prevent acne from appearing on my head? Maybe there is a certain shampoo that I should or not should be using?
I talked with my dermatologist and the only answer he tells me is that the cause of acne is unknown. |

You could try a salicylic acid shampoo, or glycolic acid shampoo. TSal by neutragenia is a good one. |

I used to get this issue in the hot, humid weather and found it got worse when I wore my hair up as I would get a sweaty scalp. A doctor actually advised me to use a facial wash that is designed for acne prone skin which contained an antibacterial ingredient (such as Triclosan) instead of my regular shampoo. I found this actually worked well, more so than exfoliating or deep cleaning shampoos. |

When I use product in my hair I breakout along my scalp line and neck area. I try to not use any product unless I have to and not touch my scalp since grease residue on your fingers can aggravate it.
I dab hydrogen peroxide on the spots and wipe along the neck/hairline area with alcohol, it does help. |
