Uhhh I have a couple of questions about bedtime skincare.. literally. AFTER the nightly cleanse, tone, yada yada yada. I want to know what to do when I actually lay down my head at night.
How often should I change my pillowcase? I think it would be beneficial to change it very often (every other night?) seeing as I want to keep my face germ-free. When I go to bed, I always feel like I did all that skincare for nothing because my face just ends up smushing up against a bacteria infested pillow. And I LOVE to snuggle with my pillow!
I often try to lie on whichever side of my face is having the least problems and let the problem-side breathe. But I move around in my sleep so much that both sides of my face are inevitably going to touch the pillow.
Maybe I should just spray my pillowcase with Lysol before bed! I'm sure that'd really do wonders for my skin!
Also, this is slightly unrelated, but how do you people sleep with a facial mask on? I read in here all the time about people leaving on overnight treatments (with products that aren't even meant to absorb in the skin!). How in the world does it not rub off on your pillow?
They should make some sort of a rubber mask that can be placed over the face and somehow fastened around your head to wear overnight with your treatment! I'm sure it'd look funny, but nobody will be laughing at great skin! |

Fantastic I've been wondering the same thing - about sleeping with a mask, doesn't it get all over the place? |

I wash my pillow every week, but I would flip it to the clean side every few days so that I'm using both sides. Is that dirty? Well, I sleep on my back anyway so it's my hair getting dirty, not my face!
I wouldn't know how people can wear masks to sleep. I can do spot treat but I'm not a still sleeper - surely the mask pieces would roam all over the bed! |

Hi! I'm not sure what kind of masks other people wear to sleep, but I've used Dr. H's Firming Mask as an overnight treatment...it's not too thick, applies like a night cream, and disappears into your skin leaving it nicely moisturized and glowy in the a.m. I think I've read that some people also use Dr. H Rejuvenating Mask this way. These aren't thick masks that cake up when dry...like the Queen Helene Masks. Although some do use this one as an overnight spot treatment for acne. But I can't imagine wearing a full mask like this to bed...you would surely need to change your pillowcase every night! As it is, I usually change mine twice a week. |

I change the pillow case only once a week. I've wondred if there's something I could sprinkle on the pillow case to disinfect and make it small nice (maybe corn starch with
lavender and Ylang Ylang oil?). What do you think? |

First I use a special foam pillow shaped so that the face does not have stress on it (therapeutica from Canada) - it is the BEST pillow on the market nd wonderful for neck (I had a lot of trouble with my neck till I bought this pillow. worth every single cent)
The japanese are nuts for having these kind of toweling wraps on pillows (mostly in summer) and we use those all the itme now. I also lay a satin pillow case over my pillow that is easy to change regularly (satin helps with wrinkling and also from hair getting all matted) |

how about adding tea tree essential oil or tea tree water to a mister and spraying the pillow once a day to cut down the bacteria between your weekly wash. |

Eve: That's a good idea a water/ethanol based mist would probably be best because you shouldn't breath small particles. I'll experiment with essential oils tea tree and ylang ylang for antibacterial propertes and lavender to help you go to sleep. I may also need an emulsifier. |

I would just add a couple of drops to a smallish mister and shake it up when I wanted to use it that way it's pure. We're essentially adding a small covering of TT to the pillow, the vapour of which would be fine IMO. I've found a supplier that sells TT hydrolat so that would be even better |
