Hello everyone,

Since reading about the benefits of retinol and vitamin C, I have decided to add them to my regime.

However, I am prone to redness (not Rosacea or rashes, just a kind of 'ruddiness'), so I want to go slowly.

My vitamin C serum is 15% and retinol 1%.

I know these are fairly strong, so I'm happy to dilute them with my other products initially.

For those of you who use these products, how often do you apply them and if you built up slowly, how did you do it?

For example, did you start using the products just once a week or more?

When did you start to increase the frequency?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

thanks

Hi! Basil dev
I started using Vitamin C and retinol some time ago, I have received more benefits from it.

Vitamin C is a brightening agent and antioxidant – it protects the skin from aging. Also, this vitamin stimulates collagen production in high concentration.

The use of serums with vitamin C and with retinol is better to separate to get their best effect, as they need different pH levels: it must be about 3.5 for vitamin C, and about 5.5 for retinol.

It is more logical to use vitamin C serum in the morning with SPF. Retinol serum should be used in the night because retinoids are unstable in the sun. Hope this helps!

Hi jess2101,

Mine are the same strengths - Skinceuticals 15% and retinol 1% (can't remember the brand)

I have to go super slowly as last week when I applied vitamin C to my face, I actually got burnt from it.

I backed off for a few days and now I mix a little of my serum with moisturizer every second day. Have only just started on the face again on Sunday, so far so good.

I'm applying both to my chest (Vit C AM, retinol PM) every second day - but my face is a little more sensitive.

Hi, there, vitamin C helps reduce complexion concerns like dullness, uneven skin tone, acne scars, and texture. With regular and correct use, you’ll see noticeable results like brighter skin and fading dark spots that resulted from U.V. radiation. Like vitamin C, retinol has some coveted benefits: It can heal cystic acne, get rid of dark spots, soften wrinkles, and lighten hyperpigmentation.

You can also check out various natural skincare brands like - Juice Beauty, Nourish Organic, v10plus and NOTO Botanics

Of course, these vitamins are important for your body and skin. They're great for protecting your skin, so it's worth a try. The main thing is to find the right one for you.

if you skin does not feel painful after 2-3 weeks of use, you can try to use them more frequently and feel that again.
