I thought I would be nosy and see where everyone is off to on their hols
I am sick of this British weather today - it is raining and blowing a gale and I'm putting off taking the dog a walk - I don't think she's bothered anyway, she's fast asleep under the table that I have my laptop on (we are talking a big dog here, so I can hardly move, what is it with dogs and electrics, she loves being near the laptop )
The boyf is also worn out with work and needs a break - we were having a look last night and how expensive is Spain now!!!
I can't understand how it costs the same to go to Spain (we like our 5*'s and luxury )
as it does to the States.
Spain used to be about a cheap break in the sun , we used to go to Costa Del Sol in a good hotel for about £500 off season, now its over £1000 - we could go to the States for that.
We are going to go to Wales now instead in the summer
Plus we both cannot bear to leave the cat and dog
We bought her an igloo - she's never out of it!! It's in the boyf's office, next to him while he working.
So where are all of you looking to go away to??? |

I totally understand how you feel, its like middle of winter again today.....
My partner and I bought an apartment on Costa Del Sol last year, so we've been backwards and forwards for the past year furnishing it. Its all done now, so I'm off in May for 9 days with my Mum, then in July for a week and then for September for 3 weeks!!!!!!!!...yahooooo
Hopefully in years to come we can live in a sunny warm climate!!!! |

Funny you should mention hols, I'm off to Las Vegas on Sunday for 2 weeks - can't wait. It's been an eternity coming as we've had it booked for about 1 year (and been saving like mad). This will be my first time in Vegas and I'm soooooooooooooo excited, I only hope it lives up to it's reputation.
I've been checking out the entertainment/night clubs etc. on Vegas.com and they all look awesome. Whilst on that site I booked dinner in the Eiffel Tower restaurant at the Paris, the views are supposed to be spectacular (need a window seat for this restaurant) We'll be staying at the Luxor but my mam and dad are staying at Caesars so we'll have the benefit of access to both pools.
Is it Sunday yet. |

Haven't booked a summer holiday yet but I'm off with my boyfriend to Venice for 4 days at the end of this month. I wanted to go to Stockholm, Oslo or Helsinki but as he was paying he got to make the final decision and he chose Venice. I've never been to Venice before so not sure what to expect. I imagine it will be crowded with tourists. |

Now I am very jealous - I went to Vegas a few years back and my in-laws go every year. I have packed my bags Lady Jane I'm coming with you!!!
We stayed in the Venetian, very, very nice .....wasted on me though as I was so jet lagged
Take lots of money because I swear you become a complete shoppaholic - the dollar is I think $1.90 to the pound so everything is vertually half price
Gucci you are very lucky - what do you do with the cats? |

There's plenty room in my case so I can smuggle you in there, but with all that shopping there'll be no room on the way back so you'll just have to stay there rosebud I'm a bit worried about the jet lag too - oh dear I'll just have to sit by the pool for the first few days to get over it, whilst being fed cool frozen grapes by a handsome semi-naked Roman/Egyptian pool attendant - life is tough. It will be when I get back and have to save to pay off the credit card bills |

Just been to Cape Town in South Africa- great weather and fantastic scenery. Very cheap to eat out as it is over R10 to a pound. Just don't go out alone at night or take a taxi to wherever you need to go. A great place- long flight but only one hour ahead time wise.
Really worth a visit.

Canada! We are reverse tourists. When we have time off we fly away from the tropics to the glorious first world. We don't have the dates of our trip yet but we're going up to Canada again this summer. Our niece in White Rock, BC will be 1 in July. We were up there for a month last summer arriving 2 weeks after she was born. Can't wait to see the little darling. We left our motorcycle there so we will probably do a short trip. |

We're going to the Pacific NW in a couple of weeks -- Vancouver, BC (need to book appointments at EDS!!!), Seattle and Portland. With the US dollar so week, we've steered clear of Europe. I've been jealous of my friends' trips there this past late Winter and early Spring. While the off-season travel saves a bit of money, it's still so pricey for Americans. We've been wanting to get to Spain -- sad to hear it's not the bargain it once was. Costa Del Sol... been dying to visit there since seeing the film "Sexy Beast". Maybe someday... |

Lianne, you are amazing! School all summer too, do you want to finish really early? Is this why you don't take the summer to work and go back in the fall? I loved college, in our small town we only had a dozen post grade 12 courses but I took them all, but it was stressful and I sure needed a break after the finals were over.
My 4 year old, husband and I are driving 8 hours south, to Vancouver leaving next Monday and will be home on Friday or Saturday following. Quick trip but my hubby has to get back to work. We are staying in the Coast Hotel downtown, 3.5 star suite hotel. I haven't been away since last fall when I flew down to Vancouver for a few days on my own, I missed my family so much I won't be doing that again any time soon. We will leave the two dogs and cat at the kennel, Pooch Palace.
I hope to shop a lot but it's such a short trip I may not get a chance. My little guy, after being sick for all of March has turned clingy, the poor kid, and only wants his mommy and he really, really hates shopping. Ah well, we will take him to the beach and the aquarium, which he's so excited about.
This is the only trip so far we have planned for this summer, it's so lovely in the summer, we have 10 acres to putter around on sometimes my husband takes time off work and we just hang out at home. |

Annette,
Yes I plan to finish early. I just finished my first year of a 4 year degree and I'm turning 26. I really want to finish and be in a secure job by 30. I finish the 2 year diploma at christmas and may not be able to start the 3rd year until sept 06 because I'll be entering a program that's currently in development. I may have 2 semesters of part time school and work there. I'm really not sure, maybe they'll have the degree ready in january...who knows!
Glad to hear your little guy is all better now |

I hope you get a rest on your two weeks off Lianne. You are motivated it's no wonder your grades are so well! Our little guy's better thankfully, I hope. I would think he was on the mend only to have him come down with it again, hopefully it's run it's course. |

The costa del sol is very cheap once you get there!!! Far cheaper than England! I normally book the cheap air fares so its very cheap for me...I used to have a timeshare there and the 5* apartments cost £250 per week... |

I know it is a little cheaper once you get there - I'm still remembering the good old Pesata days Whenever we go we book the flights over the internet and then the accomodation seperately.
Anyway we had a ray of sun here yesterday!!!!....and it's here again today We are both tempted with spending our hols at home and having lots of rides out, doing lots of shopping, at the moment this is a little more tempting.
Venice Toe - not bad |

We are off to Florida to do the Disney stuff in September - am soooo excited!!
We are then also trying to plan a trip to New York for April 2006 to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. We visited NYC in Dec of 2003 and completely fell in love with the place, so can't wait to go back!

Cheeks, it's my dream to go to NYC one day! And Florida too! When our son is a little older we are going to Disney World, I've wanted to go for years myself now that I have a kid I can justify it! |

Oh rosebud, rub it in
Hubby and I were going to go to Europe (to a design school in Basil, Switzerland), but the exchange rate is sooo bad .
We live in Florida so it's like being on vacation all year round (except for the hurricanes, storms and humidity, not to mention the alligator who lives in the lake )
I long to go somewhere cold! I long to wear cashmere! Our best vacation was on the Orkney and Shetland Islands, followed by Land's End, then London. The islands were so cold I really had to stock up on sweaters. I mean really...it was an emergency

joani you fancy doing a house swap
I thibk I can see where you are coming from I love the warm weather but if it goes too hot that's it for me
I'm sorry to hear you had to put your design plans on hold.
It's funny you liked the Shetland Islands, I was watching about them on a holiday program not long ago and I remember thinking who would want to go somewhere that cold on holiday??? I can't understand why you all like sweaters - the only time I like like them is when I've put a few pounds on round my middle
I am longing to wear my nice new summer dress.
How has Florida been since the hurricane, I hear there are a lot of roadworks on high drive. |

rosebud, a swap sounds great! I was just out in the garden and now I've got bug bits all over my legs! I guess we always want what we don't have. I have a huge sweater collection from living in colder climes and I just love wearing them on a crisp autumn day, with leaves turning colors and winter in the air. People in Florida wait for those very few days when we can wear our sweaters. I've even seen some older ladies wearing fur coats (now it is never that cold !)
As for the Shetlands and Orkneys, yes most people thought us nuts for wanting to go there, but it is quite beautiful in its own lonely way. Lot's of stone circles and Stonehedge type rock formations. I have to admit it was colder than we expected, but we drank lots of tea and ale and too bad I don't drink Scotch!
As for Florida, it is amazing how things are still not back to normal. The area I'm in was mostly spared with minor damage. But there are people in the state that still do not have proper housing or utilities. It's terrible. Yes, lots of road work and re-building. There is a waiting list for the services of roofers and construction crews. Now everyone is afraid that if the debris is not cleaned up before the next hurricane season that it will be like shrapnel in the strong winds. eek! Taake care, joani |
