...any advise will help...

I'm completely new to the forum, and enjoyed reading all the posts. I've tried to narrow down and find any and all posts that deal with the SC line... there are just way too many!!

So, I figured I'd try to call out to any of you who seem to be very educated about all this skin care mumbo-jumbo.

I've been wanting to invest in a quality product line for a while and finally have some extra $$ to do so. I was interested in the SC line and would like to know how the following regimine would work.

I have the oh-so-wonderful hyperpigmentation skin condition all us 30 yr olds still on birth control are prone to, called Melasma.
It's not overly obvious, but that's due to me staying completely out of the sun and using a cream from my derm. I'm out of the cream and it didn't do enough to go back to get more.

I thought I'd try this:

Night time:
1.SC Gentle cleanser for tramatized skin
2. SC Phyto + (recommended by my facialist to reduce the brown spots)
3. SC Intense Line Defense (do I use this all over my face or just at the deep lines I'm getting? I wanted this to take the place of any eye balm.. could it?)

4. can I stop there and get enough moisture, or should I add the SC Renew for Normal/ Dry?

Morning:
1. SC C E Ferulic.. (instead of individual vit C)

2. I then didn't know if I would need something like the Skin Firming Cream or just be able to use the Ultimate UV Defense sunscreen as a moisturizer.

I feel like I definitly need the sunscreen (for the Melasma to not show up in the Austin, TX heat)... but, don't know if I need both.
What do you guys think??

Sooper thanks in advance,
Tanya

Hi Tanya -

It sounds like you've got a nice little regimen going on. The Skinceuticals is a great line and I think you'll like it. With the Phyto + and the C + Ferulic, you're adding to your arsenal of lightening and brightening. Many say that the Phyto + has helped with the brown spots. My own experience was that I didn't notice any changes, but it did make my skin feel nice and soft.

I haven't tried the Line Defense, but I'm thinking you'd apply it to just where you see lines. Is it a serum? You may find you want a little something more around the eyes, and the B5 gel may fit in nice there - it's a terrific boost of moisture to the skin, or you may want to try a sample of the eyecream. I find that with some serums, I look a little bit crepey in the eye area until I add B5 gel or an Eyecream.

I use the renew overnight dry a couple of times a week or so, but lately at night I've been only using the B5 gel and a little bit of eyecream to let my skin breathe from the day, as I too have melasma and wear mineral makeup and concealer to keep it covered. (On nights I feel really dry, I use one of my fave creams - Rosa Y Fruta Ambrosia, and in the morning my skin is all soft again.)

I use the Emollience during the day and then the Ultimate 30 block over that - even though the mineral makeup has natural TO and ZO in it. If the Ultimate 30 feels moisturizing enough to you, then you may want to skip a second moisturizer to make your life easier. As the weather gets warmer, I'm going to try to eliminate the extra moisturizer step too and stick with the Ult.30. I think it's a great sunblock.

Hi Tanya,

I haven't tried much of the Skinceuticals line - just the serums and the UV Ultimate sunblock. I think you will probably need something in between the C serum and the sunblock though. I find the serum a bit drying so I would not be skipping the moisture step (I've got normal skin).

Maybe between the C and suncreen you could try their B5 gel...then the sunscreen. Very Happy

thanks for the replies... sounds like I definintly need something before the UV sunblock. I keep hearing the B5 rather than the skin firming cream... is it truly the better choice?

Thanks so much for the insight,

I use a serum with Hyaluronic Acid after my C serum, and I feel that I get better results. I have found Hyaluronic Acid to be incredibly hydrating, and it is so much better in the morning when you need to apply sunblock too! It really makes my feel less layered. If you find that it isn't enough moisture, you could just use the B5 as a moisture enhancer, and put another product on top. However, with summer on the way, I think it will probably be enough.

intensive line defense: I use it all over my face because I also have clogged pores. If your skin is congested you may want to use it all over twice a week or so...otherwise just on the lines.

I'd suggest just starting with the 3 nighttime products you listed and add the renew if you feel you need it.

For daytime I'd suggest using a moisturizer as well. I've tried the daily sun defense which says moisturizing but I didn't find it to be. I love the B5 gel because it helps bind moisture to the skin. It's really helped my dehydrated areas. I haven't tried the skin firming cream so I can't comment on it...
