I am soooo confused Crying or Very sad
Are Dr. H products for older, mature skin?
I am DESPERATELY trying to select a new line....soooo many to choose from.
I am 29 (soon to be the big 3-0) with slightly dry skin, congested chin and between eyebrows, minimal sun damage and dilated capillaries on cheeks, very slight dark under-eye circles.
Anyone know of a spa/salon that can offer a skin consultation/evaluation in Vancouver, BC area?

Crying or Very sad PLEASE HELP ME Crying or Very sad

I have been using Clinique

opps, I was so busy whining I forgot...I am leaning toward either Dermalogica or DDF.

I want a really good cleanser, toner, day moisturizer with SPF and a richer night moisturizer. Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone!!!

Hi cbrooke,
you sound just like me! my skin has a tendency to be oily in parts, esp my chin, nose and forehead, but also dry on my cheeks. i've got some broken capillaries on my cheecks too *damn those teenage exfoliation-to-the-max years!* i still get little breakouts now and then but not so crazy as they used to be.
i live in new zealand (quite harsh climate) and have gone through using dermalogica but have been using dr h for the last year.

dermalogica - now this is a good line if you like that squeaky-clean feeling on your skin. prior to moving to dermalogica i had used a lot of different stuff so it was nice to have it all in the same line (i use the special cleansing gel and the essential cleanser, multi-active toner and skin smoothing cream with the microfoliant thrown in weekly). however, after a while i found that my skin was still getting the breakouts and was getting really dry from using the products.

dr h - now initially i found these products a bit weird, esp the cleansing creme which left my skin feeling like it had a residue or film on it. but after using it for a while (like a week) i realised that actually my skin felt better and not as dry and kind of stripped as it had when i was using the dermalogica. now i use the cleansing creme, facial toner and quince day cream during the day and at night the cleansing milk and the facial toner (dr h doesn't recommend a night moisturiser so you can give your skin time to recover) and honestly, my skin has never looked better. it looks hydrated, glowing and just good, this is even more amazing when you consider that we're heading into winter here so the weather is quite cold and drying at present.

so upshot - i wouldn't dismiss using dermalogica as i'm sure you'll see much better results than using clinique, but maybe you want to consider doing your skin a bit of a favour and help it to help itself by using the dr h products...

Dr Hauschka products are certainly not just for more mature skin. There are plenty of us here at different ages using this line. I would highly recommend the Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream to you for the congestion and also as a good gentle exfoliant for dry skin.

Re: spas in the Vancouver area. Essential Day Spa is in Vancouver Wink I would love to go there myself but the rather large distance between Brisbane and Vancouver is a tad preventative Sad

If yours is mature at 29, mine must be nigh on ancient at 41 Sad

But I use Dr H CC and its doing a grand job Smile

I hope I didn't offend anyone Embarassed I truly wasn't meaning to imply that it was for mature skin I just really didn't know. I feel like such a boob cause I have been using Clinique and thinking I was doing my skin good.

I am going for a skin consultation to the EDS spa this Friday. Wish me luck in finding the right products for me Very Happy

The thing with Clinique is that when I started using it at first (years ago) it actually made my skin look better. But after a while it really seemed to thin out my skin and also make it look rather lifeless. I'd stop, go to something else, and then try Clinique again. Then I just figured out that most of their skincare just didn't really work that well for me and some of it was really harsh as well.

Good luck on Friday and let us know how it goes! I'm jealous.... Smile

I wasnt offended in the slightest Smile just tickled me that at 29 you were classing your skin as mature when theres me wishing my skin was as young looking as it was when I was in my 20's Smile

Enjoy your consultation at the spa and come back and tell us how you got on and what products you ended up with

cbrooke, I used Clinique religiously for 2 years. Like Mabsy, at first I thought it made my skin look better. I was so loyal to the product that I kept buying more and more everytime they had one of those "gift with purchase" thingies on. Embarassed My skin was getting progressively worse but I somehow didn't realise it was the Clinique Rolling Eyes It was only when I started reading this forum I realised just how evil it is. No word of a lie it was like an epiphany when I finally ditched it Laughing So good luck with chosing new products - I promise you won't regret it Very Happy Very Happy
