I recently had my first facial! It was absoulutely amazing, definetely something every women should treat herself too.
Anyway, they used Dermalogica products and now I am thinking of switching (currently using Clinique). However, I have read some reviews that Dermalogica is really nothing special? What is everyones opinions? If I am going to spend the money I would rather get what is best.
Also, I always thought I should use all products from one line and not mix and match different companies products. Is this true or it doesn't matter?
Thanks!!! |

dermalogica will be a big step up from clinique. Clinique products are really harsh on the skin, especially their toners |

I personally think Dermalogica is a wonderful brand. It's used and recommended here at my local spa, (as well as Skinceuticals. I think it's better to use all one line (although I'm guilty of not doing that right now.) But my skin is more on the sensitive side, and I find the using one brand -- at least for me -- miminizes the risk of irritation. |

Dermalogica is a great line. I wouldn't necessarily jump in and use everything in this line. I think, as with any line, there are stellar products and average products. The key is to find the correct products for your skin, no matter what the product line. |

I've been using Artistry for a couple of years now and really like it. It leaves your skin really smooth and clear. I get comments all of the time. I like the make up even more than the skin care. I just got a new flawless coverage one that is a powder and foundation in one (normally not something I'd like), but I tried it and am absolutely amazed with it!! It is really light and powdering so you don't feel like you are wearing any foundation, it's my new personal favorite I've seen some comments on the money back guarantee, and I can tell you from my own experience that it's true. There have been a couple of times that I used some eye shadow or lipstick and it just wasn't me, they accepted it and refunded my money with absolutely no hassle. I use it because I love it. I don't research the company dynamics of the Wal-mart corporation, Nordstrams, or TJ Max before I buy something from them, that would be hilarious. You try a product, you like a product, you buy a product. That's how it works. Who gives a rip what company it comes from if it works. That is pretty ridiculous LOL Everyone just go try a bunch of products and use what works for you and quit being gossipy and silly about where you buy it |

I agree with the others, I've found a lot of products within the Derm line that are great for my sensitive skin (my faves are the ultracalming cleanser, daily microfoliant & skin smoothing cream). Like with any other line, there will be products that are perfect for your skin and others that are not so great. EDS are usually happy to send you samples of things you want to try so order a few essentials, get some samples and see what you think. Like ammwv402, I prefer to stick to the one brand so my skin doesn't get irritated but Derm products do fit in well with other lines. Good luck |

Agree as well. Dermalogica is a great line, but not everything that suits others in this line will suit you. So, try to get some samples and figure out what you like and what you don't think is so good. Personally, I think their Microfoliant is one of their star products. I also like their cleansing gel for sensitive skin, the dermal clay cleanser, the sheer tint moisture cream, and their multivitamin mask |

Like everything, there is really no easy answer. We prescribed Dermalogica to a couple of teenage girls and both had really bad reactions to the line. They are sisters, so it could be an allergy of some kind. They both suffer from acne and just did not respond to the products.
Personally, I have used Dermalogica and really liked it. In comparison to other botanical lines, I find it superior. That said, compared to other, more aggresive lines, it really is not enough.
As for mixing other lines, there is nothing wrong with it. We find certain things work better from certain lines and based on need, that is what we prescribe. We try our best to prescribe a home care regimen based on what the client actually needs, not just line specific. |

When I first purchased a Dermalogica starter pack from a shop, I thought it was nothing special and was not impressed. Then a few years later my skin therapist recommended some Dermalogica products and I now love the brand. I think it show the importance of getting the right products prescribed for one's skin.
I have combination skin prone to acne and use (and love):
Skin Smoothing Cream
Medicated Clearing Gel
Ultra Calming Cleanser
Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask
Daily Microfoliant (samples)
Also used (and did not love):
Gentle Cream Exfoliant (some breakouts)
Dermal Clay Cleanser (too drying)
Special Cleansing Gel was basic but quite nice. My next purchase will be Skin Purifying Wipes (for the gym). |

Thanks everyone...this site is sooo great
I was wondering about the wipes. I am thinking of skipping the toner and thought maybe the wipes instead. Maybe they will give me a sample |

My skin therapist said the wipes were great for acne prone skin as one of the ingredients killed bacteria buildup on the skin.
Let us know how you go with all the products.
I am almost purchasing the wipes tonight from strawberrynet (got them in my shopping cart already!). |
