I am 34 with dry skin and very open pores, particularly around my nose which is also very prone to blackheads. Can anyone recommend anything that might help that won't dryout my skin? Currently I cleanse with jojoba oil or Lush angels on bare skin, moisturise with Lancome's hydrazen and make up is Jane Iredale pressed powder. Any tips would be very gratefully received! |

I also have visable pores around my nose, but they have improved a lot in the last few weeks. I started using a few new products around the same time so I can't tell which one has caused them to become less obvious (or if it's the combo of all the different things). The new things are: Jurlique Face Wash Cream (similar to Dr H Cleansing Cream), Dr H Rejuvenating Mask and Decleor Ylang Ylang Oil. I noticed an immediate difference with the Rejuvenating Mask (as soon as I rinsed off the residue I could see the pores were smaller so hopefully they'll keep shrinking everytime I use it ). I was a bit disappointed with the Ylang Ylang at the start but after a few days I started to see both a reduction in the oil slick on my nose and also the pores. It's nothing miraculous (the pores are still visable), but a definate improvement. |

Oooh and I forgot to mention that none of those products have irriated or caused my skin to dry out, not even on my nose which gets "flakies" very easily if my skin doesn't like the products. |

I also recommend the Decleor Ylang Ylang Oil. Paula's Choice also makes a 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid Solution that I used to use to keep my pores clean. I believe she will send you free samples if you e-mail and ask, too. |

I just read a similar message from Kk1068. I recommend the same to you and that's to use a good face mask like the Dead Sea Mud Mask from the Organic Makeup Company and then use a good facial oil from them.
This combination seems to work well as others have said they work.
Take a look at your pressed powder as some of the content may end up clogging your pores causing the blackheads. In general talc and petroleum based oils can clog pores causing blackheads. |

i second ylang oil, and also the ylang balm. i use these together with hydra matte and it does a nice job but of course nothing is a miracle and you need some time before seeing results! all are by decleor. for mask i use origins the deep improvement but some people find it too drying. however it does wonders on blackheads (at least for me) |

I ordered glycerin and salicylic acid from the personal formulator.com. I mix them in a one to one ratio and apply as a mask for about five minutes. It REALLY helps get rid of the blackheads. SA is a BHA and cleans the pores from the inside out. Cleaner pores are smaller pores! |

My pores are enlarged on my chin and nose. At my age I can't afford to get dried out. I use Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner just on those areas after cleansing at bedtime. This does the trick for me and tightens up those pores.

As I post before Payot's Masque Irradie does the trick, just as it describes "Specially formulated for oily and combination skin, Masque Irradie Purifiant tightens pores, deep-cleanses and helps eliminate imperfections. Active purifying ingredients work to help your skin recover its clarity and softness."
You can buy it at http://beautynet1.com/lespurifiantes.html

Forgot this in the previous post, you can also try this DIY formula (I don't remember if I got it here in EDS or somewhere else):
Tighten your pores and make your face glow: 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp cold milk, 1-2 drops lemon juice. Mix all ingredients and apply to your face. Leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse off with cold water.

Adding Apple Cider Vinegar woked the best in closing my pores. |

Try adding a good exfoliant, like dermalogica's microfoliant to clean out those pores. |
