This is my favorite sunscreen. I used to addict to only physical sunscreens, which I thought are safe. After I try many physical ones and move to this physical and chemical combination sunscreen, I changed my idea. This one is very good even for sensitive skin, I also can use it around my eyes without stinging or greasy feeling. It is easily applied and absorbs well. It will also offers long time hydration along with the most complete broad-spectrum protection.

Analysis of Mexoryl XL, mexoryl SX and Octocrylene:
Mexoryl SX is the first effective photostable UVA absorber. That means that unlike other sun filters, it does not degrade when exposed to the sun. Mexoryl SX absorbs the sun's radiation and accelerates to an excited state. It then releases the absorbed energy into the environment as harmless energy and returns to its stable state, ready to absorb more UV energy and protect the skin.
Octocrylene and mexoryl add together will enhance both effect, protect avobenzone from the damage of UVB. As a result, the sun-proof ability is increased.
The advanced UV filtering system of Anthelios XL is a unique association of photostablized sunscreens for broad-spectrum and longer-lasting protection, with advanced efficiency against UVA and UVB rays.

kikiw. does it leave any white color on your skin? thanks for a great review. I am looking for a very high protection sunscreen before I go south for a vacation. it sounds like this would be good for sensitive skin. have you tried any others? |

harriet - I have used the lotion version of this, and it did have a slightly white cast, but it's not at all noticable unless you have darker skin. |

Hi
I'm new to the forums, but I saw this thread and thought I should weigh in. I really wanted this sunscreen to work for me, because it was supposed to be excellent of sensitive skin. I put some on my face, and broke out the next day. A friend of mine who also has sensitive skin also broke out. Both of us tend to be really reactive though. The next time I went shopping for a sunscreen the woman at the counter let me take a "sample" home - she sold me a tiny plastic pot and let me squeeze some of the sunscreen into it. I was able to apply it a few times, in order to give it a good test. Still looking for one that wont break me out. |

Hi alexes, I'm sorry this product causes you break out. But this is extreme fluid and very light, which rarely results in break out. I'm oily combo skin and easily break out. However, this product is fine on me as well as most my friends. One possibility is its ingredients are chemical and physical combination, you may allergic to some chemical ingredient. |

3rd.oculus and kikiw.
thanks for your responses to my questions. sorry for my delay in replying.
I bought Biotherm spf 50 Sensitive Skin Sun Milk with mexorly xl/sx and it is great...moisturizing, not irritating and only a hint of a white cast (think I apply too much). I have been using it for 7 weeks, and it worked well even in Florida!!!
I will be trying the Anthelios High Protection with mexoryl xl spf 60 and can let you know how they compare. I also bought Roc spf 60 Soleil Protexion Velvet Moisture with tinosorb m and s and will evaluate the 3. Harriet |

I have used La Roche Posey sunscreens for a few years now and love them.
I use the cream version , SPF 60.I do not find it leaves a white cast, but I always use a mattifying primer on top though, prior to my foundation.
In Canada we are lucky, it is sold at our local drugstores. |

I love this sunscreen, and end up mail ordering it from Canada. It's utterly absurd that it's so expensive and difficult to find in the US. |

Upon a friend's strong recommendation, I tried La Roche-Posay Anthelios extreme fluid spf50+ (for face) and cream (for body) during a 4-days beach trip, this sunscreen did really protect me from sunburn and also kept my complexion pretty even from the scorching sun. People couldn't tell that I've been like out hours in the sun after my trip! The only grouse is that it doesn't prevent the freckles from popping out. Though it contains alcohol, my sensitive skin finds it still pretty moisturising. Overall, I would think it's a good sunscreen to try for those on the lookout. |

In the US you can buy it at CVS now. I just picked it up for the first time because it's on sale this week with $10 extra care bucks back I can't wait to try it tomorrow! |

hhm for those of u that can tolerate the chemicals in the sunscreen, r u usually allergic to any of them previously? Because if you're not, that explains why it seems fine when you use it. I tried La Roche Posay UV Phase SPF 30 before. It's a moisturizer with SPF in one. It contains Titanium Dioxide and Mexoryl and Octinoxate I think. I think I might be allergic to Mexoryl as after about a wk use, I had some very tiny red spots on my face. They're nothing major, just a few. After I stopped using it, they were gone. Guess it's not a daily sunscreen for me then |
