Following on from my review on the JI Blush and concealor I have received several more goodies from the post man.
PurePressed Base: I got this in Amber and I am very impressed. Previously I was using a comination of BE 2 and 2.3 While I was quite happy with BE I was having trouble building up coverage without looking shiney - no matter how much I buffed! This compact is so easy to use and I love that its easily portable and not messy, unlike BE! I use the Handi brush to apply all over and then go over places I need more covarage with the flocked sponge. Might also get Warm Sienna for when I am more tanned.
Handi Brush: At first I wasn't sure if I would bother getting this as I thought it looked very similar to the BE Heavenly face buffing brush but I'm so glad I got this. It applies the Pure pressed so easily and evenly, and its so soft, plus compared to the other brushes I own, this has barely shed any hairs (touch wood!)
Flocked sponge: Quite pricey for a sponge but does wonders when more coverage is needed, plus blends blush well.
Absence: I have noticed from other people's reviews, a trend for weird dust particles if you use the sponge with this - I get this too and its a bit off putting. I don't use this every day for some reason but I love the added SPF. I don't find it tints my skin particularly unless I put to much on which is a good thing. Its not at all drying and it is nice to use, does help contol oil but it is quite pricey.
Liquid Minerals: Sad to say it but over all I am a little dissapointed in this, Made me look really shiney and oily despite the absence under it and blotting all day. Not sure on the coverage either. Wanted to like it because it has lots of good ingredients but think it would suit a drier more mature skin than mine (I am 25) but saying that I have never really got on with liquid foundation which is what attracted me to MMU and the powders in the first place.
H2O ; Not sure if does wonders for my skin but it feels lovely when I spray it on to set my base, would be great on a plane or when too hot to sleep but the bottle is quite small and I would be scared I would run out!
Overall, I am over the moon with the Jane Iredale products, they have restored my faith in MMU and I especially love the Pure Pressed base and the lovely gold compact it comes in (shallow, moi?!) |

hi catnip (love the name)
with the pressed powder, how does it settle in the pores ie: blackheads, i have recd my loose powder samples and am not that impressed however i really want this too work! the loose powder showed up all my pores (chin and nose), and the colours were too dark (even though i chose ivory/bisque/cool sand/warm silk) so im thinking that pressed powders come up lighter so *fingers cross* will order some more samples in pressed powders.
glad you like the products |

Hi Purple Princess. I have been using the Pressed for about 2 weeks now and I have not had any vlack heads from it. As for pores, I find they are alot less obvious than they were with BE (which is probably similar to the loose you have) - I think the shine highlighted them where as the pressed is more matte. Also, have you tried either Mineral Veil, JI Pure pressed Matte powder or what I use which is Palladio Rice Powder (I Get this fromwww.beautynaturals.com for £4.50). Use it before and after mineral foundation and it helps to disguise pores (alot of people only use it after and find it doesn't help - I think the sandwich is the secret!)
Alot of people say that the pressed are lighter than the loose but I have only tried JI pressed. Have you used BE? If so what shade were you in that? I find Amber good for days when I feel pale but will soon order the Warm Sienna for tan days! I have medium skin with golden under tones but a tendancy to red cheeks (I blush ever so easily!) Try and stick with it! |

hello
is the JI purematte the same as absence? if it is absence seems to have mixed reviews on here, tends to leave a residues (white bits i think). i will look into the rice powder, do you feel that the uk is behind with all these products, since i discovered this forum, my eyes have been opened and my purse!! (its so much cheaper buying from the US)
there are soooo many products, its finding time to read all the reviews/advice.
keep us infomed of how you find the products

Pure matte is different to Absence. I have absence and I do like it but its more of a primer/oil controller (the bits are annoying but its a nice base) The Pressed Mineral Powder Base - Matte Powder is more of a finishing powder which can be used before or after the foundation.
I agree about the UK being so behind. The only 2 mmu brands which are avalible here are BE and JI and they are so expensive compared to the US. For example the Pressed Foundation is £21.05 on EDS, on UK websites its between £28 and £35. Drives me crazy! |

I'm also using JI pressed in Amber. I love it but I do find I have to blend with the flocked sponge to avoid emphasising my pores (on my cheeks near my nose). I'll never go back to regular make up though! It's so quick and easy to apply and looks great! I finish with the JI H20 or Jurlique rose water and then Jurlique rose dust to set it and minimise the shiney t-zone. I haven't got this part perfect yet (I still find I get a oily nose) but I'm working on it!
Catnip - is Warm Sienna the next color up from Amber? I get confused with the way the colors go. The Amber is perfect for my skin (I'm pretty pale) but I find in photos or at night it makes me look toooo pale. I want to try the next shade up next time. |

Hello princesita - According to the Jane Iredale website Warm Sienna is the next up from Amber. I ordered it yesterday so I will let you know how it looks when it gets here. I am lucky in that I don't seem to have much of a problem with pores - but its made up for by my blemishes and scars! |

The JI pressed foundation is my absolute favorite mineral foundation and I would not swap my Handi brush for anything. The combination just works really well for me and I find that it's a lot easier to apply than BE and it's not as easy to go overboard with (which was a problem for me with BE). |

catnip - my local salon sells JI and the pressed powder is £39!
is it best to use the handi brush or the sponge with the pressed powder? i have ordered the sponge and some samples of pressed powders. can you use any brush with the pressed powders ie: big make up brush. it seems a lot of ££ for a brush..
thanks |

Crikey £39!! (I know there is a salon near me which carries JI but I haven't actually been in to look at the prices)- that is shocking! Personally I love the handi brush, like Mabsy I find the combination great but I do use the sponge for heavy coverage over my scars. If you used the sponge all over it may be a bit mask like. As for other brushes, I have quite an array and the nearest one I have to the Handi is the BE Heavenly buffing brush but IMO it doesn't compare. I suppose you could use a powder brush just to see if you like the foundation and then perhaps upgrade to the handi if you feel its worth investing. It would be a terrible waste if you bought the Handi and found you didn't like the foundation! Keep an eye on eBay - I noticed a couple of weeks ago a Handi going for not too much money. HTH |
