HI Everybody !
I am 29 years old, brown asian.
I have a un-even dry skin. Its patchy. Dark brown at some places and light brown at some. All I want is even skin and also if possible a lighter, brighter and whiter skin ( my husband is much fair than me. I want to be near him in that aspect ).
I read the discussions from this form. I am confused what should I do to achieve what I want.
My questions are
* can I use Skinceuticals plus Cellex C products without consulting dermatologist ?
(I understood it helps clearing up un-even skin)
* Should I use skin whitening soaps. Does it really work? I live in bay area, california, USA. Where can i get these soaps and which one should I choose?
* If I take vitamin C tablets, would it effect my complexion ( to get whiter ).
* Do I need to exfoliation my skin ? I was reading about Dermalogica Microfoliant on this forum. Is it good ?
I am not into too much of skin care(sadly) because I don't know what is right to do.
I know the problem I mentioned is discussed so many times on this board. But I get confused reading all of them.
Can somepne please guide me with what exactly I should do to achieve what I want.
Thank you very much for your help.

Hello Eka
I am no expert but I am asian and had uneven skin due to years of playing hockey in the hot tropical sun.
Ever since I started using Vit C for about a year, my skin tone is definitely lighter, brighter and more even.
You can add on Skinceuticals Phyto+ which should further enhance the brightness and even out the patches.
You should be able to use Vit C (Cellex C or Skinceuticals) without consulting the dermatologist unless you have ULTRA sensitive skin. Start with a lower strength like Skinceuticals' Vit C 10, if not, Cellex-C's Serum for Sensitive Skin (7.5 strength). Do not forget to use the Hydrator and Sun Block.
BTW, you only use the serum ONCE a day.
If you have decided to purchase VIT C system and are not sure of the steps, let me know and I do my best to share my experience with you.

Hi eka
I forgot to answer the 2nd part of your question.
The Derm Microfoliant should be mild enough and does smoothen out your complexion.
Try it! |

Hi Eka.
Unfortunately I cannot assist you in which products to purchase but I do have a comment and a suggestion! (How shocking that I have a comment...) For a good skin regime it takes time to try suggestions made by professionals and or consumers whom have used the products. Hence, thank God EDS has the "product review" forum!!!! If I were you I would email an aesthetician (you can get the link at the EDS store) and ask your questions in order of importance. You have several areas of concern and if you try a few new products at once you won't know which works on what. Does that make sense? EDS will sell or send a sample that depends on your order. That is my suggestion. My comment is about the Dermalogica Microfoliant -I love that product. I use it, my kids use it, I would use it on my dog if I had one. It freshens your skin, smoothes it out, it is a great daily exfoliation. Get, buy it, and use it!
That’s my two cents. Good luck, let us know how you make out!

Thank you very much for your responses.
I really appriciate you typing so much for me. Thanks !
I don't think I have un-even skin due to sun exposure rather (I think) its due to uneven melanin deposits. Do you think Skinceuticals Phyto would help me even when its not due to sun?
I was also reading atwww.skinwhite.com about Skin White Serum". Anyone have experience with that ? Which one would be better to try Skinceuticals Phyto or Skin White Serum ?
Jenny, what is VIT C system ? When we talk about Vitamin C, aren't we talking about taking Vitamin C tablets ? Please pardon my ignorance. Also what mg of Vit C do you take per day ?
Barbara, Thanks for your comments and suggestion. I will try take their advice.
Thanks
-Eka

Hello Eka!
Here's my two cents about the vitamin C part of your question.
Vitamine C can be taken internally and/or it can be used topically on your skin and it is contained in certain skin care prepartations. Taking Vitamin C internally will not have a noticable effect on your skin tone. I know this because I have taken it in supplements for many, many years and it has not really done much to the external tone of my skin, but it's supposed to keep colds away and perhaps make you healthier in other ways.
Used topically, it's supposed to have a wrinkle removing capability and I think do other things as well, but I'm not sure what because I don't use it (how's that for helping you!)
The Jan Marini line uses vitamin C in many of her skin care products if you are interested in using it.
Perhaps others will be able to help you. Oh, vitamin C can be very drying to the skin if it is overused, so when using a product with vitamin C in it, don't overuse it. My skin is too sensitive to use vitamin C topically that's why I stay away from it.
Hope this helps you a little. I'm sure others on this board can help. |

Hi eka
I meant a topical Vit C system.
If you check out EDS under Cellex-C or Skinceuticals, you will see that they have serum that contain absorbable Vit C for your skin. You can go to any search engine on the internet to find out more about "Topical Vitamin C". When I mentioned system, I meant that besides TREATING your skin with Vit C, you must HYDRATE and then PROTECT it as well. To do this, you may need to order a serum, a hydrator and moisturizer as well as a sunblock.
I have had good results with Phyto Plus - which is currently on sale (Price Off) under Skinceuticals' Primacy line.
It is OK to be a little dark skin, it is more important to even out your skin tone.
I am only sharing my personal experience. Like Barbara said, you may want to consult the aesthetician @ EDS to get a more professional take. It is interesting to note that Skinceuticals have had very good reviews so far. Check out previous posts for more information.:P |
