hi
Can anyone give me some information about perms to give curls?
Do they damage hair badly?

Perms DO damage the texture of your hair. Just ask any hair stylist. And if you color too, well you end up with ratty looking hair. |

I agree with SusieQ. A perm is going to alter the structure of your hair, this in itself is damaging. But, considering you are altering it with chemicals, it is even more damaging. If you colour your hair as well, as SusieQ said, it could easily become over processed and end up looking terrible. On another note, saty away from Pantene. This will just coat your hair...it will not help your hair.

Thanks for the info
As I was afraid, perms are pretty bad for the hair.
for the last 10 years I have been dying my hair- blond most of the time and my hair IS in a pretty bad condition as it is, so I probably shouldnt go for a perm.... I'd love to have gorgeous curls though
Well, for now I am going to have to stick to the hot rollers
Theyre not as damaging, right?
Can you recomend a conditioner for damaged hair btw?

I like Goldwell Kerasilk and Redken AllSoft. There was recently another thread on this...I will look!!
If I were you, I would just stick to rollers for now too |

When I was getting my first ever perm (which was also my last from what I recall) the hairdresser was so impressed by how glossy and smooth and healthy my hair was that she actually called the other hairdressers over so that they could have a look (no kidding!). I can honestly say that since I got that perm my hair has never recovered and is nowhere near the same as it was |

Pantene contains waxy products which coat your hair, and which are also not good for your scalp. It will make your hair look good though, but overtime, it will actually be worse for your hair. Maybe it is a different product in Europe...Not really sure, but my hair stylist has never recommended it. |
