Hello all,
I could do with some , actually a lot, of advice. I am going for a holiday to Italy. Is there something I should definitely be getting...skincare or otherwise? All ideas welcome.
Any other tips about the place. tell me all you know.
Now does it fit into this forum  (but I started with the intention of asking about some skincare goodies!) |

my personal ultimate buy (and a reason for me to plan my trip to italy) will be to visit the Santa Maria Novella pharmacia (in florence). These products were made many many many years ago by monks for queen Catherine, and they still make them today. Since they are ultra exclusive (although not so much in america...lets face it, you can probably get anything in america), it may make it even more special.
That would be on my wish list-apparently the visit is worth it..and the opportunity to samples all of the luxurious skincare in the old-fashioned pharmacia would be a very pleasant experience, I believe...  |

| Lots of eyewear is made in Italy. I've gotten great designer sunglasses there. Also, silk scarves, ties, etc. Don't know about cosmetics. |

It depends where in Italy you're going. Florence - there's this shop called "The Bridge" which sells the most beautiful leather goods. Venice - glass products. Milan - high fashion. Lake Como near Milan - beautiful artifacts. Bologna - Ferragamo shoes.
There's also a spa which produces the Borghese line of skincare. Can't quite remember where exactly it is. |

There's the Panettone cake - the Italian Christmas cake - not sure if it is available outside of the Christmas season. |

Thank you ! please keep the tips coming.....I am going on 14th and will be staying in Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan...a couple days each. So city specific advice will be great too!
Are leather goods cheaper in Italy...shoes or purses? God(and my husband, unfortunately) knows I dont need more of them! |

Oh ... Bruno Magli shoes in the boutique in Milan. They have one of the biggest range.
Venice also has this very special jewellery shop (can't remember the name and there's NO WAY to describe where it is in that labyrinth of a place). They make the most out-of-the-world-beautiful gold rings with delicate leaf motifs - very unique, very unusual, very timeless. I would give my right arm for one.
There's also a leather glove shop with the most designs and colours imaginable. The shopping experience in there is one of a kind. The shopkeeper has this arm stool which you rest your elbow on and he will personally fit the glove onto your hand. 
And of course, not forgetting ... the famous Venetian mask. You can't go there without buying one. |

Every time my best friend goes to Italy, she buys a whole slew of lingerie. Some shop on Via Manzoni. I can't remember the name. I'll have to ask her. She does have really nice bras though....  |

Very Happy And the Yamstore is really cute... Of couse you should take a look on Gucci,Prada...but theyre are boooring,belive mejavascript:emoticon('')
Rolling Eyes at the end of the shoppingstreat is a stand with fake-luis-vittons for about 5eurosjavascript:emoticon('')

| Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. The price is about 1/4 of what you'd pay elsewhere. You can buy big blocks sealed in plastic from the major markets that you can bring on the airplane. Yummmmm! |
