Just wondered what everyone uses
I used to use a ton of styling products to give my fine hair a bit of volume but found they just weighed it down and dried my hair out.
Recently I dug out one of those sun, heat, swimming protection sprays and as it needed using up I thought I'd try spraying it on wet hair before blowdrying, it worked a treat!!!!
My end are a lot softer and I have a nice sheen afterwards Very Happy

I love Redken's Total Recharge (Leave-in conditioner) and Frederic Fekkai's glossing cream.....the FF stuff is just gorgeous on wet hair and great smooth out frizzies on dry hair - without weighing it down...

BIOSILK silk therapy is the best thing!!! It's a serum that you apply to your hair before blowdrying or after to take away the frizziness and help protect it. It's very light weight, so it wont weigh down your hair. I highly reccomend it!!

Kiehl's Silk Groom is great for this as well. Put in a dime's worth when hair is damp and you end up with very manageable, shiny, soft hair. Even if you have bleached the heck out of your hair like I have. Wink

I'm using Wella Perfect Hair (comes in a self-foaming type bottle) as well as Frederik Fekkai Glossing Cream.

First I use an Ionic hair-dryer (bio-ionic). I stick to my organci shampoo's and conditioners, apply John master's organics root spay, blow-dry, then use the magical Aveda elements serum for weightless shine...voila! Very Happy

Oh yes, forgot to add that, like Happyhippie, I also use an ionic hair dryer.

As I hair-product junkie who has tried every shine product out there, I feel it’s my sworn duty to warn others about the potential dangers of using Biosilk Silk Therapy. Click on the following links to read about how damaging it can be for your hair: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=4538&highlight=silk+therapy and
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=4485&highlight=biosilk

If you don’t want to take my word for it, then have a look at the ingredients label on your Silk Therapy and you’ll see that alcohol is one of the top 3 ingredients. Too much alcohol will dry your hair out quicker than anything, especially if you flat iron or blow dry daily. The silicones in the Silk Therapy trick you into thinking it’s doing wonderful things for your hair, camouflaging the damage that is being done by the high alcohol content. That's how they trick you and reel you in. I know, because I fell for the deceit, too. Thankfully, I wear my hair very short, and it grows at the rate of 1 1/2 inches per month, so I was able to get all of the dried, damaged ends cut off my hair without ending up looking completely bald. But if you've got long hair that you've been cultivating for a while, you might end up damaging it beyond repair and have to get it all whacked off and start over from scratch.

Please, I beseech all Biosilk Silk Therapy users to reconsider your choice of hair shine product before it’s too late and your hair is damaged beyond repair.

Carekate...thanks for the info on Biosilk! I just wish I would have known this a week ago when I thought I'd try it out, and bought it. I normally use Frederik Fekkai Glossing Cream, but, like every other health and beauty item, I like to try new things. Also, my hair is better when I switch products every once in awhile. I love Lancome's FORCE DENSITÉ Extra Density Renovating Mask. It's for "weak and frail" hair. I would describe my highlighted hair as a bit on the dry side at times, but not weak and frail. This "mask" is very light. Sometimes, I use just a little as a leave in, especially if I'm going to be out on the water, and even that doesn't weigh my hair down. It's a bit pricey, but I use so little, and don't use it everyday, so it lasts a long time.

I love kerastase's styling products (and shampoos) they are really great and protect your hair while blowing and styling.

Since I started using a Ionic Ceramic Hair Dryer I find that my baby fine hair is in much better condition. My stylist suggested I get one. Recently I started adding a small amount of Avocado Oil to my shampoo.

Well, after being rather scared by Carrie's info on the Biosilk, I decided to actually have a look at what's in my Wella Perfect Hair. I pay attention to the skincare ingredients but I'm clueless when it comes to hair. This is what I found:

Aqua, Alcohol denat., PVP, panthenol, cetrimonium chloride, isopropyl alcohol, alanine, glycine, polyquaternium-4, propylene glycol, quaternium-80, hydrolyzed collagen, hydrolyzed keratin, parfum, dimethicone propyl pg-betaine, benzoic acid, methylparaben, ethylparaben.

My guess is that it doesn't sound good, but need confirmation of that. Since I got a new 'do a few weeks back I have noticed that my hair is much more dry. However, because I now blow dry my hair every two days (and never used to) I thought that might be why. But I did start to use this when I started blowdrying so now I'm wondering if this is helping or making things worse.

Also, can anyone enlighten me on the actual purpose of the FF Glossing Cream? I know it's suppose to make hair shiny and smooth but is it also effective protection when blowdrying? TIA Smile

You’re right, it’s not good. You really don’t want to use any hair product on a daily basis that has alcohol as one of the top 3 ingredients. While it’s better not to use these types of products at all, I don’t think it would be terribly detrimental to use them every once in a while, like when you’re preparing your hair for a special night out or something, but if you use a product like that daily, you’re definitely going to cause damage to your hair and most likely won’t realize it until it’s too late because the silicones in the product are disguising what’s really happening.

Yes, FF Glossing Cream does provide heat protection. The only thing you have to watch out for is applying too much so you end up with the shiny-greasies, rather than the shiny-healthies! BTW, in your 2nd “Care” package, you’ll find another product that you can use as a thermal protectant before heat-styling.... Very Happy

Thanks Carrie. To be honest, this product doesn't do anything special for my hair (at all) so I see no need to use it every so often for special occasions. I was using it every time I wash my hair because I was under the impression that it was going to prevent hair damage. Good to hear that the FF Glossing Cream is ok though - I'll just use that alone. Love the "care" packages! You're the best! Very Happy
