I love this stuff and it's farly cheap. $3 per tube. It's not a "miracle" product so don't expect to see a new flawless face the next morning, however, it one of the better masques that I've used that leaves your face feeling clean, helping to control the oily zone, and refreshed.
First, I tried the Mint Julep Masque with hubby. It tingled a bit but had a great spearmint smell. When I washed my face it felt to much smoother and not as gritty. I washed my face, used an apricot scrub, Ming Julep masque, toner, and then a moisturizer. I do this routine once a week. Twice if necessary. Also, it is great for pimples. Put a little on a pimple and that baby's gone or come to a head by the next morning.
My hubby loved it and uses 3x's weekly on his nose to rid blackhead and its definetely cheaper than those strip things that never worked. I've also noticed the large pores on his nose have "shrunken" over the past few weeks that he's been using this product.
I think it's a great produdt as a starter and for those who can't afford expensive mask or don't want to deal with the mess from DIY homemade masks. However, it can be a bit drying for some so follow up with a good moisterizer.
Tonight, I'm going to crush a few noncoated asprin (for the salylic acid) add a bit of water, mix with Queen Helen's Mint Julep Masque to hold it together and put on my face as recommended by a friend. I'll let you know how this turns out. |

I have this mask and like the effect and the minty feel of it. You can actually see as the mask dries, the oil being sucked out of the pores because it leaves little "wet looking" stains on the dry mask. However, this mask absolutely KILLS! I have normal skin and don't usually have any problems with using stronger products. The Mint Julep masks burns and stings my skin like you wouldn't believe for a few minutes after application. This is really strange but looking at the MUA reviews it's not unusual. There are some people with sensitive skin who cannot handle it and some people with sensitive skin who have no problems with it. There are also people with "normal" skin who have no problems with it, and people with "normal" skin that can't handle the pain. Now *that* is odd! |

I've just started using the Mint Julep Masque. It's nice but as you said, Queenbluebee, no miracle product.
What is your "recipe" for the aspirin/Mint Julep Masque? I'd like to give this a try. |

Toe--
All I did was crush 8 or so uncoated aspirin. Added a few drops of water (make a paste) in palm of hand. Then put a bit of Mint Julupe on top the aspirin paste. Mix them together and apply to face. Leave on about 10-15 minutes and then wash off.
I know it sounds messy but it wasn't. It was rather easy. |

Thanks for that, Queenbluebee. Off to get some aspirin now.
I don't mind the mess. I just want something to sort out these pesky blackheads. |

I've been using this mask faithfully every week for over a year. I'm not sure if it does anything though, but I'll continue to use it just to use the product up. If I recall a while back, it did contribute to drying up some left over acne on my chin. |

Today prompted by the aspirin talk here I took my QH mask and modified it. I took a lump of the QH, added 2 SMALL drops of peppermint oil and 1/2 teasp of warmed grapeseed oil with about 1/8 teasp of salicylic acid from The Personal Formulator dissolved into it. I put it on for 30 minutes and was really pleased with the results. My skin was really soft and pores looked better even DH commented that my skin looked good. The peppermint oil improves circulation and I think gave a nice glow.
I must add that my skin although light in color is NOT sensitive. Peppermint oil can be irritating try a very small bit at first. |

Thank you Sharky for saying that peppermint oil is irritating to the skin. It is a skin irritant and even if you cannot feel anything, underneath the skin its doing a number.
Glad this worked for you, but I think its overkill at best. You can actually do very little to skin, and it would still look good. I've learned that much for sure. |

I think it depends on your skin. I've read some good studies that peppermint oil increases microcirculation and this is very good for your scalp and skin condition. Like glycolic acid and Retin products, however, small amounts improve skin thickness while overuse causes damage. The problem with all of these is that "overuse" depends on your skin type. |

Can you go into a store? I am sure they will have them. They just aren't popular as they taste gross. I got Bayer uncoated, but if there is a no name brand, that will be super cheap. Surprisingly enough, uncoated is more common in Japan. Thank goodness I don't have to put it in my mouth. |

Faith, I did go to walgreens, sams club.I browsed the aisles and could not find it.The pharmacist was busy and it looked like I had to wait quite some time.I did not want ot do it then.Looks like I have to do it, ultimately!!BTW,does it say 'uncoated' on the box?
If some1 could suggest me a store in US ,it'd be great.
Thanks. |

Sats-- Try Wal-green's, Wal-mart, even the Dollar Store. My mom buys from uncoated aspirin from the Everything's a Dollar Store which is usually a generic uncoated aspirin with no particular brand only aspirin written across the yellow label. Also, the uncoated aspirin are usually in a clear plastic bottle.
OR I use this brand listed and paid ~$1.50 at the local drug store. However, as faith mentioned you can get Bayer or even the aspirin powder like Goodies or BC powder. Hope this helps!! |
